Gunmen kidnap Unical Servicom Director
The unknown Gunmen kidnapped the Director of Servicom of the University of Calabar (Unical), Professor Patrick Igaga, on Sunday evening.
Igaga is a professor in the university’s Department of Special Education. He was said to have been taken away by unknown gunmen across the river near the university.
Meanwhile, the family of the abducted academician has not reported the incident yet to authority as the University Spokesman Mr. Eyo Effiong confirmed the abduction.
According to a statement by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Irene Ugbo, the Commissioner of Police, CP Sikiru Akande, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident and deployment of tactical teams to ensure the victim is safely rescued.
The motive behind this kidnapping has not yet been determined, and the kidnappers have not asked for ransom.
The incident has left staff and students at the university in a state of panic, with many calling on the authorities to do everything in their power to ensure Professor Igaga’s safe release.
Kidnapping has become a common crime in Nigeria, especially in the south of the country. In recent years, many high-profile figures, including academics, have been kidnapped for ransom.
