Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria inaugurates new exco
Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria has inaugurated her new executive members with the former Deputy Governor of Abia State, Mr. Chris Akomas emerging as the new Chairman,
The forum comprises all former Deputy Governors in Nigeria who come together to carter for their welfare and avail themselves opportunity of collectively deploy their expertise, experience, skills and knowledge for the growth and sustainable development of Nigeria among others.
Inaugurating the new executive committee during the 2022 National Conference of Forum of Former Deputy Governors of Nigeria, the former Attorney General of Nigeria, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN) charged the new leadership of the body to discharge their duties faithfully, diligently and with the fear of God to achieve set goals.
Agabi who was the chairman on the occasion urged the former Deputy Governors to be actively involved in nation-building by making useful contributions through their wealth of experience and expertise and not sit on the fence.
The former Attorney General said Nigeria needs radical change and therefore every citizen must get involve in salvaging the terrible situation of the country.
He called on Nigerians to unite in peace and harmony despite their differences to save Nigeria from collapse, maintaining that nothing can be achieved in an atmosphere of disunity and divisiveness.
The legal luminary said the conference is timely as it came at a time Nigeria is dire need of solutions to myriads of challenges bedeviling the country ranging from insecurity, poverty, corruption, economy crisis among others, adding that their coming together has rekindle hope for a better Nigeria.
“Our Consolation is that good men like you never stop endeavouring to find solutions to the problems facing us as a country everyday.
“”You hold this country at a time corruption has permeated every department of our nation after decades of dicatorship. The military spirit has pervaded the nation. You hold this conference at a time when our democracy is characterized by the misconception of politics as a game without hope. We are under the illusion that in politics good and evil are the same,” he noted.
He noted that there will never be a time where there is no problem, a time where there will be injustice and where people will be completely and totally none violence but there are not enough reason to separate or divide us and stressed that Nigeria is better of as one indivisible country than a divided nation.
The legal luminary described Akwa Ibom as a state blessed with good leaders who have always left a mark for the development of the state and urged other states to emulate Akwa Ibom.
The new executive committee of the body also have Muktar Shagari and Hazeem Gbolarumi as Deputy National Chairmen while Lazarus Yoriyo as Secretary and Simon Achuba as Publicity Secretary.
