Kinsmen bolster Essien Udim Council boss over doggedness, courage
In solidarity with Essien Udim Council Chairman, Mr Anthony Luke’s doggedness, courage and pragmatism in ensuring peace and security in the area, the people of Okon Clan under the auspices of Mboho Nto Okon (MNO), a socio-cultural organisation has presented a warrior sword to the council chairman.
The group made the presentation during a solidarity visit to the Chairman at the council secretariat, Afaha Ikot Ebak recently.
In his solidairty speech, the Acting President of Mboho Nto Okon, MNO, Dr Nsongurua Nenty, congratulated the Essien Udim Council boss, Anthony Luke for his success at the last local government poll which saw his emergence as the council chairman and also commended his proactive leadership during the recent crisis in the area.
While expressing gratitude to Governor Udom Emmanuel for his peaceful disposition and for standing with the Council chairman to restore sanity and normalcy to the part of the area that was invaded by hoodlums, Dr Nenty also lauded the Governor for approving the establishment of a technical school in Okon Clan and called on the state government to expidite action in putting structures in place to enhance immediate take off of the school as the people of Okon are ready to support the government to succeed and provide enabling environment for academic activities to take place.
Dr Nenty who described the chairman as a man of valour and a child of destiny lauded him for taken positive steps to promote unity, peace and security of lives and property of Essien Udim people.
The accademic icon called on Essien Udim people to join hands with the council Chairman to succeed for the peace and progress of Essien Udim and appealed to the youths to shun bad companies and criminal tendecies and join hands with the chairman to move Essien Udim to an enviable height.
He urged the Council Chairman not to be distracted by activities of political blackmailers and jobbers whose stock in trade is to fan embers of disunity, hatred and pull-him-down but charged him to pay attention to constructive criticism and wise counselling that will help him have a successful tenure.
The organisation also encouraged the council boss to initiate a town hall meeting with select groups and individuals of his choice, who can brainstorm on serious political and developmental issues the benefit of Essien Udim.
“We appreciate your ruggedness and tenacity in the very few months of entering office and are supportive of positive steps that would make your tenure peaceful and progressive.
“Mboho is prepared to support every positive move towards making corrections and in the development of Okon and Essien Udim in general.
“”As our representative, we owe you our support to succeed and this can better be done when useful interactions can take place with the youth, the political Class and traditional rulers.
“Always remember that an Annang man is a warrior all the time. ‘Agwo Annang Ade Agwo Uko,'” he remarked.
Mboho also offered Prayers of protection and guidancee for the chairman and members of the executive and legislative arms of the government
Responding, the Essien Udim Council Chairman, Mr Anthony Luke, thanked Mboho Nto Okon (MNO) for the solidarity through the visit and also express gratitude for the gift.
He assured the group of his readiness to partner them and any other well meaning organizations for the development of Okon Clan and Essien Udim Local Government Area and solicited their continuous support and prayers for the administration to succeed.
The Council boss who restated his commitment to transform Essien Udim and ensure the people enjoy dividends of democracy despite distractions and miriads of challenges confronting the administration called on Essien Udim people to embrace as no meaningful development can take place in an atmosphere of chaos.
He hinted that his administration will commence aggressive road grading from December, 2021 across the local government area.
