The people of Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District have concluded plans for a thanksgiving/reception ceremony in honour of their illustrious Son and Leader, His Excellency, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, Honourable Minister, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.
The event, according to the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee, Rt. Honourable (Obongemem) Ekperikpe Ekpo, would take place at 10am on Friday, 23rd October, 2020 at Regina Pacis Auditorium, St. Anne Cathedral, Ifuho, Ikot Ekpene, under the distinguished chairmanship of Sir (Barr.) Bassey Dan Abia, a former Attorney General in Akwa Ibom State, one time member of the State Executive Council and currently, a Federal Commissioner, Nigerian Law Reform Commission, Abuja, Nigeria.
Rt. Honourable Ekperikpe Ekpo in his statement, noted that with the thanksgiving/reception, history is going to be made again in our land as people are expected to turn out in their numbers to celebrate and honour the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio for the marvelous works the good Lord has used him to achieve for humanity.
The statement calls on all and sundry to come out en masse and give honour to whom honour is due, reiterating that there is need to show solidarity to a man with uncommon destiny and grace.
It bears recollecting that Akpabio who hails from Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District, served as governor of Akwa Ibom State for eight uninterrupted years. During the period, he made the State a cynosure of all eyes and drew global attention to a defining governance style that came to be known as Uncommon Transformation.
On completion of his tenure as governor, Akpabio proceeded to the Red Chamber to serve the people of Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District as their senator. Again he also made history on many fronts and offered the people a defining representation that impacted lives and society.
Senator Akpabio was sworn in as Minister of Niger Delta Affairs on the 21st of August, 2019 by His Excellency, Muhamadu Buhari, making him a member of the Federal Executive Council. As minister, he has continued to demonstrate his passion for development and determination to execute the lofty vision of Mr. President in the Niger Delta.
It is on record that the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Akpabio has acquitted himself creditably at every station of his public life. The people of Akwa Ibom are very proud of him and recall with nostalgia, his era as governor. But his people, the people of Akwa Ibom North-West (Ikot Ekpene) Senatorial District are even more proud of his accomplishments. It is why they have decided to roll out the drums once again on the 23rd of October, 2020 to celebrate him with pomp and pageantry as he truly deserves the honour.
