Youths recount impacts of ‘Singles’ Frank Talk’, mourn Pastor Ezekiel Atang
Some residents of Uyo, Akwa Ibom State Capital, have expressed their feelings about a popular talk show programme, “Singles’ Frank Talk”, saying it has been a transformational and life-changing experience for them in the last 14 years of existence, just as they have also described the death of Pst. Atang as a huge loss.
“Singles Frank Talk” is a talk show event that holds on every first Sunday of every month at the Ibom Plaza, Uyo, with the primary aim of helping mentor relationships, marriages, restoring and repositioning singles, as well as the youths for the actualization of their destiny and instilling godly living in them.
Speaking in a chat with our reporters, some of the regular attendees of the relationship-centred programme lamented that although the brainchild of the talk show, Pastor Ezekiel Atang, has passed on, the event would continue to relish on its essence of existence.
One of the attendees who runs a business at the Ibom Plaza, Iniobong James, said he has benefited immensely from the monthly talk show in the area of building godly relationship and preparing for the future, believing that the programme would continue despite the death of the initiator, Pastor Atang.
According to him, “when we talk about the impact of Pst Ezekiel Atang’s Singles’ Frank Talk on singles, personally, the programme has helped me come out of sexual lust and masturbation.
“Through my attending the programme, I was made to understand that co-habiting with the opposite sex that you are not married to, is wrong because urge for sexual intercourse may set in one day. I used to be angry at the slightest provocation, but through the programme I got to know that a child of God should not exhibit such a grave trait. I have learnt how to mentor relationship, mentor marriage because if there would not be a proper mentorship of this, divorce may happen.
“As a church, we are anchoring the programme live at Ibom Plaza this Sunday. So, someone who has never attended the talk show should cease the opportunity to do so. He (Pst Ezekiel Atang) set a structure we can ride on. All the programmes he used to anchor will be on and running even after his exist. He wasn’t just a pastor to me, but also a father. I will missed his fatherhood.”
Another youth, Rosemary Patrick, who recounted her experience of the show, said she has acquired a lot from the programme, believing that ‘Singles Frank Talk’ is more than just an event.
“The programme is always interesting. Young girls are advised on how to cope with their relationships. Also, before they enter into marriage; how they can cope with their spouses”.
Also, a computer operator and a single, Daniel, told our reporters that Singles Frank Talk has helped him on how well to relate with people and advised non- attendees to reach out to books written by the initiator and the recorded versions of the programme.
“The summary of Singles Frank Talk is about how to have a good relationship. The programme has helped me on how well to relate with people generally, aside from sexual or marital relationships.
“My advice to those who haven’t found time to attend the programme is that, despite that the initiator of the programme is no more in existence doesn’t mean that the impact is dead. Every edition of the programme is always recorded. His books are also available”.
On his part, Idongesit Udoh, extolled the impact of the programme on his thinking pattern and reality of life, saying it is one programme with impact too many.
“Singles Frank Talk helps fine tune your thinking and you will never be desperate, because desperation makes you have problem. He will not just tell you that, but also on how to control and manage your desperation, anything that takes your peace”.
It could be recalled that Pastor Ezekiel Atang died last Monday in Anambra State following an unconfirmed heart problems he suffered while on a three- day ministration in the state.
