Yesterday was set aside by the world to celebrate women. Every day belongs to them because nature use them immensely to further its course. They reproduce and take care of what nature has produced. Such a relationship!. Women are sweet and supple as a rose in bloom.
I have chosen to celebrate her by reflecting on her nature and to bring light to the most important but obscure part which is left in aspersion on the narrow frame with which almost everyone perceive her. The aspect that has to do with her strength which she is spelled as WEAK with authority seemingly derived from 1 Peter 3:7.
Thankfully I have found a book written by one of the most conscious and purpose driven woman in the 21st century, Eileen Basang, founder of Wonders of Grace Ministry( with headquarter in Texas,USA). The book ‘The Woman The Blessed Of The Lord” is a thoughtful compendium intended to serve any woman who seek to establish self in dignity.

While Men are rightly perceived to be strong, in fact, as strong as the bison, women are wrongly seen as the anemone that weep at day break like a silly girl before her lover.
But wait, does a stony insensitivity to the small pricks and frictions of daily life, spell strength and brawniness on the part of men ? Does a tender breathe and emotional reflect impress Weakness on the part of women? Or are there other reasons why women are seen as weaker vessels? We will return to this question later.
This book intend to inaugurate a supreme arbiter of conduct, in the beginning section, women are admonished to maximize their spiritual nature through being spiritually intelligent, speaking seasonal words , standing in the cap, standing in the faith and submitting to God and her husband.
The Author recognizes that the world is built around words and as such, the locus(position) of a woman in a relationship will be tangent to her logos(opinion, speech, e.t.c)
She continued in the next section to point out that women need to understand that they are not ordinary. As Alice Walker another powerful woman observed, “The most common way people give up their power is by thinking they don’t have any.” The author wouldn’t conclude without inviting women to not ignore their purpose. This has a great impression on me , because from hey days, the society always expect women to live low. To forsake their life ambitions and live under the shadow of their husbands.
This didn’t pay us. Thankfully, women are taking their rightful positions in the world of today. Some months ago ,we saw how the leadership of World Trade Organization(W.T.O) promised to bring more result on the emergence of Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala. As a Physicist who can’t imagine a world without the knowledge of Nuclear physics , I remain very grateful to women. Marie Curie( a woman) is remembered for are discovery of radium and polonium and her huge contributions to finding cure for cancer.
Marie Curie is known to have said that “ we cannot hope to build a better world without improving the individuals, to that end each of us must work for our self improvement “ I stand by that.
Feeling very kindly the weighty responsibility of diligently caring for the moral and religious education of her children, the Woman, blessed of the Lord, makes huge effort to secure her marriage and family. These according to the Author, in the last section of the book, must be achieved through; effective communication, responding to the need of kids, embracing patience and having financial intelligence. Excellent!!!!
Now before I end my review, let us return to the argument left at the entrance of this article. On connection to 1 Peter 3:7 which says “Likewise, ye husbands, dwell with them according to knowledge, giving honor unto the wife, as unto the weaker vessel, and as being heirs together of the grace of life; that your prayers be not hindered”, many have sadly concluded that Women are weaker vessels. But women are not weaker vessels.
Of this truth I shall convince you by inviting you to take a second look at that passage. Peter said “As a weaker vessels “ not “a weaker vessel”. This is not some kind of sugared remonstrance or cajoleries. The Author sure explained that Peter had referenced women metaphorically to show that they are delicate and deserving of honor. Any other meaning derived from that innocent passage amount to stale and facile platitude and shouldn’tbe patronized.
Personally, and in fact, any body who read this book will be incline to give it a Five(5) star rating.
This One hundred and one(101) paged book is a must read for everyone
Happy Women’s Day
