AK-RUWATSAN Commends Gov Umo Eno
Akwa Ibom State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (AK-RUWATSAN), has applauded the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno over the creation of a stand-alone ministry for water Resources and Sanitation.
In a statement signed by the Acting General Manager, Mr. Saviour Peter Udo (FCAI), and made available to our newsdesk he said, “on behalf of the Management and Staff of Akwa Ibom State Rural Water Supply and Sanitation Agency (AK-RUWATSAN), I write to express our deepest appreciation to Your Excellency for creating the Ministry of Water Resources and Sanitation to serve as a focal ministry to pursue WASH programmes geared towards making water available in schools, health centres, markets and communities as well as tackling the issues of waste disposal in the state.”
He noted that the gesture is a demonstration of his commitment to improving the lives of Akwa Ibom people both at rural and in urban settings through the provision of water for domestic, industrial and agricultural purposes.
Mr Udo maintained that the laudable strides thus far recorded by the Governor is due to his understanding of the developement needs of the state adding that as former Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Eno had seen the need to have a stand – alone Ministry for water resources and sanitation.
He recalled that as Commissioner, Pastor Eno had in 2021, during World Water Day celebration promised to comprehensively reform the sector, adding that the gesture was a fulfilment of the promise and signifies the Governor’s passion for the sector as a WASH Champion and Ambassador.
The Acting GM who commended the Governor for appointing a woman – Mrs Enobong Mbobo – as the pioneer Commissioner of the Ministry said, “this particular appointment by you is an attestation to your belief that women play significant roles in the provision, management and safeguarding of water, sanitation and hygiene for all round health and economic benefits.
“Let me at this point pledge the total commitment and determination of AK-RUWATSAN in the implementation and execution of your administration’s ARISE Agenda as they relate to the provision of WASH services in rural communities of the state. Once again, thank you our WASH icon,” he added.
He therefore, called on Akwa Ibom people to take ownership, safeguard and secure their WASH facilities whenever and wherever provided against theft and vandalism, to enable the government fully deliver on the ARISE Agenda.
