Unveiling the Transition Committee Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Council: Hon. John Cleton Etim
Hon. John Cleton Etim, born on 8th March, 1982, is a Nigerian politician who has served as a member of the Ikot Ekpene Legislative Council, Akwa Ibom State, representing Ward 6 as Councilor from 2012-2015.
Hailing from Nkap Village, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, he began his Political oddessey in the early 2000’s, holding varoius positions at the Local Government level.
Charismatic and outspoken personality, Hon. Cleton is a seasoned politician who started his educational journey from Holy Child International Nursery / Primary School, Ikot Ekpene Akwa Ibom State. He attended Saint Paul Comprehensive Secondary School, Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State before moving to Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Ikot Ekpene Akwa Ibom State where he obtained his National Diploma in Electrical/ Electronics. He went on to further his studies at Rivers State Polytechnic, Bori and bagged a Higher National Diploma also in Electrical/ Electronics.
He is a stunch and very committed member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and was serving the Secretary of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Ikot Ekpene Chapter.
Before joining politics, John Cleton Etim worked with Shell Petroleum Security Department, Port Harcourt and was incharge of the day to day internal security and protection of lives and property in Shell.
He is known for his tenure as Councilor , during which he gained a reputation for transparency and accountability. Cleton is focused on improving education, healthcare of
Ikot Ekpene people.
One of his notable achievements was the successful implementation of his blueprint as Councilor of Ward 6 which saw him execute projects that has been beneficial to his people . His service also received recognition for good governance and fiscal responsibility.
Cleton is often commended for his emphasis on education and the need for accountable leadership. His political career reflects a commitment to economic development, governance reforms, and poverty alleviation. Earlier in the year,he was appointed Secretary, Football Association, Akwa Ibom State in recognition of his passion for sports and youth development. In October, John Cleton was appointed Special Assistant to the Governor on Youths Mobilisation, Ikot Ekpene Federal Constituency.
His appointment as the Transition Committee Chairman of Ikot Ekpene by His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno is well received by indigenes and residents of the Raffia City. He is tipped by everyone to impact positively on the political landscape of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area with his rich vein of experience .
He has a track record of good governance which the people of Ikot Ekpene recognizes. He is expected to bring his wealth of experience on his new role which he has demonstrated over the years.
