UNIUYO: Professor Ndaeyo takes over as 8th substantive Vice Chancellor
…commendations trail as Professor Essien exit
Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, Professor of Farm Systems, Department of Crop Science, Faculty of Agriculture, has been sworn-in as 8th substantive Vice Chancellor of the University of Uyo (UNIUYO).
The swearing-in and handing over ceremony took place at the Central Administrative Block, Main Campus of the University, Nwaniba Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State on Tuesday December 1, 2020.
The swearing-in and handing over ceremony was anchored by the Pro-Chancellor and Chairman, Governing Council of the University of Uyo, Professor Austin Awujo and other Council Members.
The week long event organized by the University of Uyo management to give the immediate past Vice Chancellor of the University, Professor Enefiok Essien (SAN) befitting end of tenure and to welcome the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, which started two weeks ago finally came to an end on Tuesday as the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo, officially, takes over the mantle of leadership of the University.
As part of the activities to officially welcome the new Vice Chancellor to the University of Uyo Community, on Tuesday at exactly 7am, Victory Chapel at the Town Campus, Ikpa Road, Uyo received Professor Nyaudoh with a prayer service. The new Vice Chancellor was later received by his own Faculty, Faculty of Agriculture at the gate of the Main Campus by 8am in a convoy for official handover formalities at the Central Administrative Block of the University.
At exactly 10am, the University of Uyo management organized “Appreciation and Welcome Party” in honour of the Immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Enefiok Essien (SAN) and new Vice Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo at 1000 Seater-Capcity TETFUND Auditorium, Main Campus, Nwaniba Road, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State.
In her opening remarks, the Chairman, Central Planning Committee and the current Vice Chancellor, Academic, Professor Enoidem Usoro, said that the event was officially organized to appreciate the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Enefiok Essien (SAN) and to officially welcome the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo.
She disclosed stated that the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Essien has built on the foundation his predecessors built, adding that Essien left legacies that shall ever remain memorable in the University of Uyo.
She also said that Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo has carefully studied his master, while expressed confident that the new Vice Chancellor will take the University to an enviable hight in no distant time.
Also speaking, the Pro-Chancellor, and Chairman, Governing Council, University of Uyo, who also served as the Chairman on the occasion, Professor Austin Awujo, said that the occasion is very symbolic in the history of the University, adding that the University has succeeded in changing the mantle of its leadership in a very peaceful way.
He described the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo as an energetic gentleman, adding that he is happy that Professor Ndaeyo will keep the flag flying.
He also commended the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Enefiok Essien (SAN) for the cooperation he gave the Governing Council, and specially thanked him for assisting the Council to sure that staff that supposed to be promoted were duly promoted.
Professor Awujo also thanked Professor Essien in his efforts toward making sure that there was no abandoned project in his tenure. He further thanked him for the peaceful learning environment the University of Uyo enjoyed for the past five years, adding that there was no litigation between staff and management of the Universitiy throughout his tenure.
The immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Enefiok Essien (SAN), in his remarks, thanked all that supported him to succeed as the Vice Chancellor while called on them to give the new Vice Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo the same support they gave him so that he can succeed.
The new Vice Chancellor, Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo in his remarks, thanked Governing Council for selecting him to emerge as the 8th substantive Vice of the University of Uyo. He thanked the immediate past Vice Chancellor, Professor Enefiok Essien (SAN) who he described as his Boss and Mentor for giving the privilege to save as Deputy Vice Chancellor, Administration in his tenure.
Professor Ndaeyo promised that his tenure will take the University of Uyo to enviable hight while calling on staff and students to give him the needed support. He also said that he will ensure that staff’s welfare is given prominent, while adding that he will also embark on aggressive and prompt promotion of staff in his tenure.
The new Vice Chancellor also promised that he will ensure cordial relationship with all unions in the University, according to him, “students welfare will be given adequate prominent in tenure”.
He advised students and staff to feel free to come to him with ideas, opinions and suggestions that will keep the University of Uyo moving. Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo further assured that he will continue to make UNIUYO a brand.
The ceremony also featured goodwill massages from both gown and town. Some of those who presented goodwill massages were; Commissioner for Information and Strategy, Comrade Ini Ememobong, Commissioner for Works and Fire Service, Professor Eno Ibanga, Executive Chairman of Ini Local Government Area, Mr. Israel Idaisin, President, Students Union Government (SUG), UNIUYO, Mr. Emmanuel Akpan, President, UNIUYO Alumni Association and Member Representing Etinan Federal Constituency, Barr. Onofiok Luke, Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udoh Ekpenyong and many other dignitaries who were present at the event, all commended Professor Enefiok Essien for his achievements as the Vice Chancellor of the University and also confident that Professor Nyaudoh Ndaeyo will succeed well.
