Unik Brodaz apologises to Governor Udom Emmanuel over 2019 betrayal
…SAYS HE’S A GOOD SHEPHERD
Three years after causing a major stir, following their decision to support APC governorship candidate in the 2019 election, popular Uyo based musicians have openly apologised to Governor Udom Emmanuel, describing him a good shepherd.
The brothers whose 2018 solo track, AMEM, was adopted and sponsored by the Governor, decided to pitch tent with the campaign train of the Governor’s rival, Mr Nsima Ekere, performing the track all through the APC campaigns.
This move was roundly condemned by Akwa Ibomites who felt they chose to support their kinsman of Ikot Abasi despite the support and patronage they enjoyed from the Governor who went on to win the election across the entire state.
However, Governor Emmanuel’s humane nature was again brought to the fore when last December, he gladly accepted that the repentant songsters be invited to perform in his private Christmas party at his hometown.
The Governor stunned the people present when he personally walked up to the songsters and encouraged them with gifts.
In a swift reaction, the musical icons have issued a public statement, which described Governor Emmanuel as a good Shepherd, “humane, forgiving, love and peace-exuding owner of a flock of sheep, some of whom have strayed, but he forgives and admits them back into the fold.”
The brothers said, “The story of Unik Brodaz is akin to the biblical prodigal son who was welcomed and blessed by his father (the Good Shepherd) after realising his mistake and returning home from a strange habitation.
“So it was on 25th December, 2021 in Onna, when His Excellency Mr. Udom Emmanuel exhibited his good shepherd attribute with an unprecedented show of love and forgiveness to us (Unik Brodaz) by not only welcoming but giving us a Christmas envelope.
“Your Excellency, you are a true Christian of practical peace disposition. A moving institution of peace. Little wonder your Peace Movement Initiative has become a national model.
“We, Unik Bridaz, thank you immensely and pledge our unalloyed loyalty to you.
May the God of the minority and the voiceless continue to bless you, Her Excellency, and the entire First Family in Jesus’ Mighty Name, amen”, the concluded.
