UNFPA: 32 health facilities in Akwa Ibom get PPEs

Thirty two health facilities located in three Local Government Areas of Uyo, Ikot Ekpene and Eket are to receive Personal Protective Equipments from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
The representatives of the Fund gave the information recently during a courtesy call on the Senior Special Assistant and Coordinator Department of Multilateral and Donor Agencies, Mr Ndiana-Abasi Udom in his office.
According to them, items including 2000 pieces of surgical gloves, 4000 pieces of facemask, 1000 pieces of surgical examination gloves and thirty four pieces of googles which are available for distribution to the benefiting facilities.
Receiving the items, Mrs Blessing Udofa-Poromon, Head, Legal Unit, Akwa Ibom State Department of Multilateral and Donor Agencies, thanked the UNFPA on behalf of the Senior Special Assistant and Coordinator, Mr Ndiana-Abasi Udom and explained that the medical items donated would go a long way in supporting health facilities in the State.
Mrs. Udofa also said, the support is in concurrence with the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel and his administration’s effort to strengthen and provide adequate welfare to frontline health workers and ancillaries.
Earlier, the representative of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), on the visit Mr. Abraham Meneyene said the items donated are UNFPA support for the State to strengthen Governor Udom Emmanuel’s effort to provision of quality health services in the Akwa Ibom State.
Mr. Meneyene said, “the facilities were selected during the needs assessment excercise carried out in the State on various health Centres.”
Others present at the visit included the representative of the Civil Society Organizations (CSO), Mrs Uduak Imo of ‘Women and Community Livelihood Initiative and Dr. Ekanem Inyang of the Applicant Welfare and Development Centres”
Also present were officials of the State Ministry of Health and other Representatives of Civil Society Organizations.
