Umo Eno preaches peace, unity at Afaha Day
The Governorship candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno has called on the Afaha people to demonstrate love, peace, and unity in all they do.
Pastor Eno made the call at the 2022 edition of the Afaha Day celebration in Nsit Atai held at Afaha unity hall, Odot.
The PDP governorship candidate who was represented by the Special Assistant to the Governor on Project, Mr. Joseph Okon charged the Afaha people to cultivate love and unity among themselves so they can achieve meaningful progress.
He assured the people of his administration’s commitment when elected into office next year to work with Afaha sons and daughters to bring development to every community in the local government and Akwa Ibom State at large.
The Governorship hopeful pleaded with the people to ensure that they go out and collect their PVCs so that they will be able to vote for PDP starting from the presidential election to the governorship, and State Assembly election.
He used the occasion to appreciate the Nsit Atai Council Chairman, Lady Emem Ibanga for her loyalty and dedication to the party, and her strong role in grassroots mobilization.
Pastor Eno assured the women that his administration’s agricultural revolution agenda is to empower the women to be financially strong and stable.
Also speaking, the Chairman of Nsit Atai local government council, Rt. (Hon) Emem Ibanga challenged the Afaha people to rise and kill division and disunity amongst them.
The council boss maintained that the Afaha people are strong and brave people who must do everything possible to take their pride of place in Nsit Atai.
She lamented the lack of love, unity, and togetherness amongst the Afaha people which is the reason for their seeming backwardness. Adding that Afaha people must come back together in love for themselves and their Afaha identity.
The council chairman thanked Afaha women for their support to her administration in Nsit Atai and Afaha project, saying that as their own, she will always maintain the pride of Afaha.
In his goodwill message at the occasion, the group head of the Afaha group of villages in Nsit Atai, Chief Mfon Sunday Essien decried the lack of unity and togetherness amongst the Afaha people which has deprived them of their pride of place.
He called on political, religious, and traditional rulers in the area from Afaha extraction to always put Afaha first in all they do.
The monarch who is also the village head of Odot ll and Edidem of Afaha thanked the organizers of the event for remembering the need to rekindle the spirit of unity and togetherness among the Afaha people through the Afaha Day celebration, and prayed that the momentum should be sustained.
The high point of the event was the unveiling of the Enin Afaha 2022 by the representative of Pastor Umo Eno and fund donations. The event was attended by a massive crowd of Afaha sons and daughters from all works of life.
