Tickets racketeering rocks Ibom Air
Agents alledgedly hoard, sold tickets to higher bidders
Tickets racketeering rocks Ibom, the Akwa Ibom State Airline as some passengers plying the Airline adecried high level of corruption by some officials of the Airport, particuarly agents handling sales of tickets whom they accused of hoarding the air tickets only to sell them to the highest bidders thereby making the air tickets more expensive.
Speaking with MORENEWS.NG, a passenger who pleaded anonymity said:
“Ibom Air was supposed to be a blessing to Akwa Ibom people but what I experienced here is directly opposite of that. It is rather unfortunate that our airline which is funded by the tax payers money is now the torn in the flesh of the passengers. Can you imagine Uyo to Abuja which is supposed to be N30-35 because of Covid-19 arrangements is now N50-70. I’m not worried about the airticket cost but the way the agents hoard the ticket. They sold the ticket at will and to who the chose to sell to.
“They will tell you the tickets have finished or tell you that it remains only one so that they can hike the price when they know that you are under pressure not knowing that they are hoarding the tickets for highest bidders.
“The price should be stable and the agents and some staff of the airline should be cautioned.”
Another source who expressed worry over the monopoly and autocratic tendencies by the management of the Airport queried:
“Why shouldnt they give other airlines a chance to also operate for competition to take place; by so doing the price will drop.”
