Apostolic Church: Asikpo splashes empowerment items on members
Some faithful of The Apostolic Church, Uruk Uso in Ikot Ekpene have been presented with various empowerment items by a prominent son of the area and member of the church, Obong (Dr). John Asikpo, Commissioner 4 in Akwa Ibom State Local Government Service Commission.
The gift items included sewing machines, tools box , grinding machines , hair dryers and financial packages for some women , youths and students of the church.
The empowerment programme which is to ease the effect of the Covid-19 coincided with the Annual Harvest Thanksgiving of The Apostolic Church ,Uruk Uso Area Headquarters.
Speaking while distributing the items ,the donor , Dr. John Asikpo explained that the gesture is to reciprocate the massive support the church gave to the Governor Udom Emmanuel and his administration through prayers.
Obong Asikpo described The Apostolic Church as his first constituency in view their support and prayers to him and his family .
He assured them of Governor Emmanuel’s commitment to support the expansion and growth of churches in Akwa Ibom State to reposition them for their soul winning mission.
The Commissioner four in the Local Government Service Commission solicited more support for Governor Emmanuel to enable him provide more dividends of democracy to the people .
Dr. Asikpo advised faithful of The Apostolic Church to be nearer to God as well as pray always for Akwa Ibom to become a destination of choice in the country .
He appealed to the beneficiary of the gift items to make prudent use what they are given to improve their economic fortunes.
Dr. Asikpo thanked Governor Emmanuel for appointing him and other indigenes of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area into position of responsibility in his administration.
The gift items were dedicated to God by the Superintendent of The Apostolic Church ,Ikot Ekpene Field , Apostle Etopabasi Akpan who prayed for more blessings on Dr. Asikpo to continue to impact on society.
Responding on behalf of the recipients ,Etimabasi Timothy thanked Dr. Asikpo for his gesture and promised to put the items to good use.
Earlier in his homily , the Field Superintendent of The Apostolic Church , Ikot Ekpene Field , Apostle Etopabasi spoke on the theme : ” Source of Thanksgiving “.
He said Christians have every reason to always remain thankful to God for delivering them from darkness and forgiveness of sins.
The man of God also advised the congregation to shun evil and depend solely on God in order to meet with their expected end.
The service featured choir renditions, praises and prayers .
