TBLF Conference tasks Nigerian Youths on leadership in creative economy
The Bridge Leadership Foundation’s two-day career conference held at the Calabar International Conference Center, (CICC) on Friday brought together over 3,500 young leaders from across the country, united by the c “The Creative Economy: Building Nigeria’s Future Through Youth Innovation.”
This event, organized by the non-profit TBLF, served as a platform for empowering the next generation of innovators and leaders to become agents of change in Nigeria’s socio-economic landscape.
In his opening remarks, the founder and Chairman Board of Trustees of the foundation who is also the former Governor of Cross River State, Senator Liyel Imoke, says “It is an honour to have you join us for this pivotal event, bringing together accomplished leaders and innovative thinkers from across Africa”
Senator Liyel Imoke, expressed gratitude for the diverse gathering of accomphislished leaders and innovators from Africa. He enumerated the essence of the conference in harnessing the potential of Nigeria’s youth.
“This year theme focuses on the transformative potential of the creative economy amidst challenges such as limited resources and infrastructure. Nigeria’s youth possess immense potential to lead in innovation and drive economic growth if given the right support”
Senator Imoke further stated that, “The engagement in the creative industry not only creates jobs opportunities but also catalyses so societal change by addressing issues like poverty and environmental sustainability”
Senator Imoke further identity the role of the creative economy in driving economic growth and innovation, especially in a global context.
He stressed the need to support young Nigerians in overcoming challenges such as limited resources and infrastructure to unleash their transformative potential.
He said, “Engaging in the creative industry not only creates jobs but also addresses societal issues like poverty and environmental sustainability”
One of the Keynote speaker in the event, John Ugbe, CEO of Multichoice West Africa, commended the vibrancy and resourcefulness of Nigerian youths.
He recognized that they represent a substantial portion of the population who are ready to seize available opportunities for exploration and growth.
Ugbe further maintained that, “The demographic dividend presented by Nigeria’s youthful population, Which is about 41% sets it apart from aging populations in other parts of the world”
The Bridge Leadership Foundation has been at the forefront of various Youth-Focused Initiatives, including the Leadership and Community Development (LCD) Materclass Mentoring Programme, Teachers Support Programme, and Leadership Advocacy Programme.
These programs aim to support and empower young leaders across Nigeria through mentorship, skills development, and educational opportunities.
The career conference served as a platform for fostering creativity, innovation, and collaboration among Nigerian youths. It positioned them to make meaningful contributions to the country’s socio-economic development.
