Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency race: Elder Sunday Etim promises effective representation
The Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly aspirant, Hon (Elder) Sunday Effiong Etim, has promised to offer Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency effective representation when given the mandate to represent them in the State House of Assembly in 2023, saying that he has competence for the job.
Elder Sunday Etim,a businessman, running under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who stated this while interacting with newsmen in Uyo, said his desire to run for the seat was borne out of necessity and the need for effective representation in his Constituency, so as to ensure that issues affecting Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency are properly presented in the State House of Assembly.
He said: “I’m ready and willing to serve my people.I want to use the platform to develop my people.I am from Ukuko1, Ward 1. I’m from Urue Offong Development Area.
“The 2023 House of Assembly seat of Urue Offong/Oruko is zoned to our area, and that is why I am in the race to serve and contribute my own quota to the development of Urue Offong/Oruko.”
The lawmaker hopeful said when given the mandate to serve, he would ensure that his people get what truly belongs to them in the area of education, power supply, infrastructural development, agriculture and youths empowerment, which he said will be his cardinal focus while in the House of Assembly.
The aspirant lamented the poor road network threatening the economy of Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency, adding that the economy has been hampered by the absence of good road network in the area, decrying that many villages in his area does not have power supply.
According to him, some economically and viable roads in the area that need government intervention include Oruko-Eyobiasang-Uda Road, Ukuko-Mbokpu Uko Akai-Oruko Road and Ikpe Road, among others.
The youthful leader vowed to bring numerous issues militating against the development of Urue Offong/Oruko State Constituency to the floor of the House without fear, when given the opportunity to serve come 2023 and solicited the support of his people.
