“Shun Cultism and Study Hard” – FEDPUKA Ag. Rector Advises Students
The Acting Rector, Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr. Mrs. Mercy Ebong has advised Students of the institution, to shun cultism , examination mal-practice and other social vices and take their studies serious in order to graduate in flying colours.
Dr. Mrs. Ebong, who was represented by the Dean of Applied Sciences , Prof. Daniel W. Ebong gave this advice during the 10th Orientation exercise for fresh students of the Polytechnic, at the 250 Capacity Lecture Theatre of the Main Campus of the Polytechnic.
According to Dr. Mrs. Ebong, the institution which has the mandate to enhance and promote the best practices in skills and technological innovation aimed at producing global icons for the world economy, will stop at nothing in giving the students the best training they require stressing that the students must in turn study hard and be prepared to shun cultism, examination malpractice as these vices will attract heavy penalties from the institution which might ruin their academic pursuit .
In her words,” The institution has put in place all that is needed to give you the best education you can ever imagine. Qualified lecturers , sophisticated laboratories, engineering workshops, well structured and comfortable lecture halls in a serene environment.
“I want to categorically state that this institution has zero tolerance for cultism, examination mal-practice and other social vices. Also, every student is expected to protect the school’s property and not vandalize them as anyone caught in such act will be sanctioned” she warned.
She appealed to students to be ambitious in their studies, attentive and receptive to very knowledge passed to them by their lecturers as they sojourn in the institution.
The Registrar of the institution, Dr. Okon J. Ekanem while addressing the students, furnished them with a brief history, vision, and mission and governance structure of the Polytechnic.
He charged them never to deviate from the vision of the Polytechnic, which is being a pace setter in the technological advancement of our dear nation as the institution is committed to her mission statement which remains to produce global icons.
The event also featured brief talks from Dean of schools, Heads of departments/ Coordinators, Registered Staff Unions on various subjects that will ease the stay of students on campus if they strictly adhere to them.
In a vote of thanks, the Dean of School of Engineering, Engr. Mrs. Eduediuyai E. Dan, thanked all who were in attendance for making themselves available for the exercise, she mentioned that the occasion was solely to acquaint the fresh students with the activities as well as the rules and regulations of the school as she urged them to utilize the opportunity of being a student of Federal Polytechnic, Ukana to make their parents and guardians, the institution and the country proud.
