Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio: My politics is politics of the people
The Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Obot Akpabio has explained that his style of politics centres on people, and human capacity development.
The Minister who at the weekend played host to the executive members of All Progressives Congress (APC) and Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF) in the Akwa Ibom State at his Ukana county home, said “I don’t know any other politics except politics of the people. That is why wherever I go, my reception is beyond party lines because all I know is about the people. My politics is about the people”, he said.
Senator Akpabio Akpabio advised the party faithful to let go the past and get prepared for the future, adding “do not forget yesterday is gone forever, today is here and tomorrow we can have. We can no longer have yesterday. Yesterday is gone forever, but we can plan for tomorrow. The journey of tomorrow is like a journey of a thousand miles, it begins with a step and that step is this your gathering.
“Forget about 2019, what happened in 2019 I have studied it and i have gotten the security report. If there was no internal sabotage, you would have been in Government House Akwa Ibom today. For those who are jubilating, let them wait for us, we are on our way”, he said.
The Minister acknowledged Stephen Ntukekpo –led executive of APC as the recognized executive structure of the Party in the State.
“These are the gentlemen of the party. You obeyed party guidelines, paid and bought your forms, contested and won even at the Ward Level. Those who went to Court, the court confirmed you. As the Minister, I am also a minister in the temple of Justice. I have practiced Law for over thirty years, I believe in the rule of law. So I cannot breach any court ruling. If the court has recognized you and God has recognized you, I also recognize you Get prepared, when the convention is over and you are victorious because you will be victorious, the so called political ‘ebomo-nkuku’ will be running around looking for where to hide”, Akpabio assured.
The Chairman Elect of APC in Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Stephen Ntukekpo said, “This evening is very unique in the sense that the Grand Leader of our dear State decided to bring together these members of APC. For me, it is a great manifestation of the fact that what he has done this evening is simply an epitome of peace, love and unity”.
The Director General of Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum, Obongemem Ekperikpe Ekpo in his speech assured that the ADF would galvanize support for the APC and work for the success of the party in 2023.
“Come 2023, we are giving you the assurance that from the ward level to the National Assembly will be our own and ADF will do that This is your dream child and you cannot dream wrongly and you have seen what has come out of it. We celebrate you the more when we see you being celebrated in other States because they have equally seen something uncommon in you, and we are ready for you”.
