Rotary Club of Uyo, District 9142 installs 37th President

Rotary Club of Uyo, District 9142 has installed its 37th president, Rotarian Ofonmbuk Nelson, to direct the affairs of the club for the year 2020-2021.
Ofonbok, during his installation ceremony held in Uyo on Sunday, 6th Dec.2020, said he will continue to act in line with the Rotary’s vision statement captioned: “Together we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change across the globe in our communities and ourselves.”
Speaking on his vision for the year, the newly installed President said in taking action together he will align with the Rotary’s strategic priorities and objectives of increasing impact, expanding reach, increasing participant engagement, increasing ability to adapt and consequently during the pathfinders’ year intend to execute seven life touching projects.
Earlier in her valedictory speech, the outgone president, Rotary Club of Uyo, District 9142, Rtn. Idongesit Domingo-Inyang, said the year may have come and gone but the success story of the Rotary Club of Uyo within the period of her administration will linger for a long time.
“On the 6th of July 2019, I stood before a similar gathering saddled with the responsibility of leading a group of very talented professionals and business leaders.
“With the support of a dependable board of Directors, committed Rotarians and project partners, we recorded great strides in all areas of focus and executed 35 life touching projects that impacted our communities,” She said.
The Chairman of the Installation Planning Committee and Assistant District Governor Zone 5, Rtn. Francis Inyang in his welcome address said though the year came in with multiple challenges and crises, the club was still supportive in its humanitarian Role.
He counts on the newly inducted pathfinder President ability to deliver on his mandate.
On his part, the Chairman, Installation Committee, Mr.Onofiok Luke declared to partner with the club in helping the homeless children on the street of Uyo to have a means of livelihood.
Expressing her expectations for the Rotary Club of Uyo as the new president is installed, *the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on SMSE, Rtn. Janet Amba* said, “I am happy that today the new president, Rotarian Ofonmbuk Nelson is being installed as the 37th president of this club.
“Coincidentally, I’m a member of the Rotary Club, working for A Governor that is interested in service to humanity, Governor Udom Emmanuel is interested in the welfare of everyone here in the state, so I don’t have any doubt in my mind that in this Rotary year, the club would also do great work in the service to humanity in support of the state.”
Fielding questions from journalists, the Chief Executive Officer of the Global Entrepreneurial Foundation, Mrs. Oluchi Mfon expressed satisfaction on the partnership between his organization and Rotary Club in assisting the widows.
She reiterated commitment to partnering with other organizations in assisting the poor.
The high point of the event was the financial empowerment of 20 widows with the sum of N50,000 in collaboration with the Global Entrepreneurial Foundation.
