Promise fulfilled: Gov Umo Eno’s Aide donates to School
On Tuesday, 14th October 2024, Prince Akanimo Bassey Johnny, Personal Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, fulfilled a heartfelt promise by donating a set of drums to Government Primary School, Ikot Igwe, Okon in Essien Udim LGA.
While presenting the drums, Prince Akanimo Johnny acknowledged his connection to the school as an alumnus and a former drummer and pledged his continuous support to the school “Today, I’m here to honor that appeal and to fulfill that very promise,” he remarked.
The Governor’s aide noted that the donation was in fulfillment of his promise to the school during the end of the 2023/2024 Academic session in response to the school’s pressing needs outlined by the management.
According to him, the Head Teacher, Mrs. Arit Bassey Udoudom, highlighted several challenges faced by the school, including the lack of drums, desks, toilet facilities, and offices during the visit and made poignant appeal for assistance, particularly regarding the drums, which are essential for celebrating important occasions like Children’s Day.
He further explained that the donation was part of his small gesture aimed at boosting the morale of the pupils and complementing Governor Umo Eno’s efforts in the educational sector.
In a display of gratitude, the Headmistress of the school, Mrs. Arit Bassey Udoudom described Prince Akanimo as a promise keeper and a man of integrity.
In his goodwill message to the Governor’s aide, the Chairman of Ikot Igwe village, Mr. Udo Amos, along with youth leaders of the village, echoed this sentiment, asserting that true political representation is rooted in service to the community.
The pupils also expressed their joy by playing the new drums, singing and dancing around the school premises while praying for the continued success and guidance of both the Governor and his aide.
