Sodomy: Police nab Akwa Ibom Prophet for violating 12-years-old boy
A 31-year-old man, identified as Pastor Anietie Inyang from Ikot Ebak village, Essien Udim Local Government Area, is now in police custody at the Akwa Ibom State Police Headquarters, Ikot Akpan Abia, Uyo.
Prophet Anietie Inyang is awaiting trial after being arrested by the police for alledgedly raping a 12-year-old boy from Ikot Obong who is living with his grandmother at Ikot Ada Utor in Afaha Clan also in Essien Udim Local Government Area.
The suspect was earlier arrested by the Essien Udim Police Division but was released on bail without being charged to court.
Morenews.ng gathered that there were frantic attempts to cover up the case until the wife of the Chairman of Essien Udim, Mrs Umoh Gabriel Tony Luke alongside her husband, Anthony Luke got wind of the information and ordered the police to produce the suspect before he was re-arrested by men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Essien Udim Division.
Morenews.ng also learned that the Akwa Ibom State Sexual and Gender Based Violence Response Unit has intervened in the matter and the case is now being handled by the Unit.
Investigation revealed that the suspect had already admitted to committing the sodomy act, claiming he only fell to the temptation three times against the accusations that he has been in the devilish act.
He, however, blamed the situation on the Devil, saying he does not know who cast a spell on him.
Morenews.ng can authoritatively report that the 12-year-old boy is not the culprit’s only victim.
The ugly incident came shortly after Mrs Umoh Gabriel Tony Luke had told the women during a stakeholders meeting in Essien Udim that she ‘will not treat issues of Child molestation in the area with kids gloves’.
Speaking on the development, Mrs Umoh Gabriel Tony Luke vowed to intensify efforts to ensure that Essien Udim is crime-free.
“When I learnt about the case and the frantic attempts to cover it up from one of my big sisters here, I had to swing into action. I have stated that I will not treat any case of child molestation with kids gloves.
“All thanks to my husband’s timely intervention, that ensured that the suspect was re-arrested by men and officers of the Nigeria Police Force, Essien Udim Division.
“Let me remind every one who cares to know; thatEssien Udim Local Government Area under my husband’s watch, will be too hot for people like Pastor Anietie Inyang.
“Pray not to be caught because I will come after you until justice is served,” the wife of Essien Udim Council Chairman warned.
Given its perculiar nature, the matter may attract the attention of the Family Empowerment and Youth Re-orientation Path Initiative, FEYReP, the Pet Project of Givernor Udom Emmanuel’s wife, Martha, who is always keen on seeing such case through in the court of law.
