… Harps on Diligence, Speed for Effective Service Delivery
The Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno has urged staff of the Ministry to apply diligence and speed in their daily activities, to enable the ministry achieve its vision and mission.
Speaking during the maiden meeting of the Commissioner with the Permanent Secretary and staff of the Ministry, the Commissioner noted that the Ministry of Lands and Water Resources is strategic to the development of the state and urged staff members to be alive to their responsibilities.
The Commissioner noted that the Ministry has a vision and mission which makes it imperative for staff to ensure unity of purpose in order to be successful and fit into the completion agenda of Governor Udom Emmanuel.
Anchoring his admonition on the Holy Bible in Romans 12:11, he urged the staff not to be slothful in business; but fervent in spirit in carrying out their respective duties.
In his words, “I ask us this morning to show diligence in working towards one purpose. I like to appeal to us that there is a need to quit being lazy, to show diligence in our work. We need to open a new page for the Ministry so that we can fit into the demands of the Ministry.
“Investors want land, the Government also wants land, as well as every other person; and there is no way we can do without land in the scheme of things and development of the state. So there is a need for diligence for us to be successful on our demands. I will do the best I can, but I cannot work alone, so I will work with everybody, irrespective of position because everyone is important in the scheme of things.
“One of the things I want to see in this new dispensation is speed, we need to apply speed and accuracy to whatever we are doing, and to achieve speed, we need to avoid lateness to work. I will not accept lateness, and will bypass anybody to get my work done if the need arises,” he said.
He noted with dismay, the reported delay in the release of C of O adding that he had been a victim of such delay and is determined to correct the anomaly.
“We must treat everyone coming as our customer. I want to beg all of us, those in the out stations and in the ministry, do not delay anything. Let us be known for quick delivery. Let us process things as quickly as possible,” Pastor Eno added.
While saying that he will do whatever is possible to ensure the welfare of staff in the Ministry, he urged all staff members to ensure that members of the public are served accordingly.
The meeting was attended by the Permanent Secretary, Barr Christopher Udo, directors and many others.
