Osinbajo flags-off Dakkada Luxury Estate, 21-Storey Smart Building in Akwa Ibom
As part of activities marking the 34th anniversary of Akwa Ibom State creation, the Vice President of Nigeria, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, today September 24, 2021, flagged off a 557 low-density residential estate coded name “Dakkada Luxury Estate.”
The Estate is expected to be a smart one, a well-gated city within a city with a hospital, school, police Station, football field, Civic center, playground, general sewage, Central power source, around-the-clock broadband internet service through fiber optics cables, a WHO standard water supply and will accommodate about 557 families.
The estate which is about 10 minutes drive from the Victor Attah International Airport and sits on a 171 hectare of land across Uruan and Ibesikpo Asutan local government areas is also expected to have a church, shopping mall, clinic, health center, and a civic center.
In his remarks, Prof. Osinbajo said the estate would be “a nice little place where one can hideaway”.
“The Dakadda Luxury Estate is strategic, people across the country will want to come here, and when they come they will have a decent accommodation to raise their children. The facilities here would meet the need of residents and meet their standard of what should be home.”
The Vice President said housing projects are very critical in creating jobs aside from providing shelter and lauded the Governor for initiating the project.
Prof. Osinbajo congratulated the Governor and people of Akwa Ibom State on the State anniversary, saying that Governor Udom Emmanuel has made “remarkable achievements in six years especially in industrialization.”
The Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel said the luxury estate project was driven by housing demand from foreign investors, adding that was having pressure for accommodation.
According to him, “We are having pressure on accommodation. We are having an influx of foreigners who are looking for where to build houses. We had to create a new estate that will be friendly to all.”
“As we are standing here, 13% of the estate has been sold out to non-indigenes. Everything that a luxury estate should have is here. The water here is WHO standard. The power supply will come from two sources; we are bringing in a gas turbine that will generate 15MW of electricity.”
Introducing the project, the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno, whose Ministry supervises the project said the estate is designed such that residents can telework.
Pastor Eno said the estate is part of the full plan by the Governor to provide ensure smart living for investors coming into the state.
In his words, “full security and safety operations system and Internet of Things (IoT) are in place whereby security breaches and crossings of safety thresholds are monitored, as requested, in all homes and buildings. WhatsApp alerts, e-mails, text messages, video clips are sent to all registered residents and their designated persons wherever they are in the world.
“The security breaches and safety thresholds include intrusion, perimeter fence crossings, unauthorized door, and window access, fire and smoke detection, water leakage, gas leakage, lingering in restricted areas of the estate, full safe city surveillance, etc. Residents can monitor security and safety situations in their homes 24/7 with the password-restricted date and time-specific playback of saved and archived data.”
The Commissioner announced that the experience office where one can make enquiries about the estate is opened and called on real estate investors to look up to the estate as a “place of peace and quiet.”
While commending the State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno said, “We in the Ministry of Lands and Water Resources are grateful to our Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel, who in his capacity as the chairman of the implementing committee for the development of this estate has given us the opportunity to supervise the provision of Sites and Services required for the Estate.
“We are excited to have you here and hope that today will inspire interest in you to reserve your own plot in a community that will cater for your infrastructural needs. Our experience office will be opened daily for enquiries,” he said.
