Niger Delta: Akpabiio Went there and Solved a Bigger Problem for Nigeria – Effiong Akwa
The Interim Administrator of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Mr. Effiong Akwa has commended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs Ministry, Senator Godswill Akpabio for coming to Niger Delta region to dialogue with the stakeholders of the region.
Akwa who spoke at the formal inauguration of the Expanded State Executive Committee of Akwa Ibom Democratic Forum (ADF) in Uyo said, “South-South has been the only peaceful zone in Nigeria today. The enemies of Nigeria, the enemies of the Niger Delta region, and the enemies of South-South wanted to cause trouble in Niger Delta and went to some of our ex-agitators and told them we have this opportunity, why don’t you give government 7 days ultimatum. Their intention was that after 7 days they will hide under the guise of ex-agitators to cause mayhem in the region.
“It takes courage; it takes a man with a lion heart to get into the depth of Atlantic Ocean, in an open boat with a life-jacket, and spend more than five hours in the sea. We went in there and solved a bigger problem for Nigeria”, Akwa noted.
The NDDC interim Administrator described Senator Akpabio as dependable leader that has the interest of Nigeria at heart, and is committed to solving the problem of the region.
“But your leader, a dependable leader, Godswill Akpabio went to the President and sought permission to intervene in the matter. Your Leader came in and we went into the place and because he has the interest of the people of Nigeria at heart. Any problem in the South-South Nigeria will cripple the Nation because this is where the economy of Nigeria is sustained. That was the opportunity that the enemy of Nigeria wanted to use to cause problem”, Akwa said.
He commended the group for supporting President Buhari in his determined effort to fight corruption and bring meaningful development to the country.
“I want to thank you, Akwa Ibom people and ADF for supporting President Buhari. President Buhari as you all know is a dependable leader and outstanding achiever. This is the man that came up and said he wants to fight corruption, and today he is standing tall as a cynosure of the corruption crusade. He is fighting corruption to a standstill”, the Interim Administrator asserted.
The Director General of ADF, Obongemem Ekperikpe said that the Group, adopted Senator Godswill Akpabio as a model and exemplar because of his outstanding and dependable leadership style.
“The motto of ADF, which is DEPENDABLE LEADERSHIP, led us through a painstaking search for who would serve as our model and exemplar in dependable leadership. Though we did not have to search for too long or go too far, since visible deliverables of good and dependable leadership inundate the Akwa Ibom landscape as evidence of performance wrought between 2007-2015 by His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio, CON, the simplicity, candour, commitment, compassion and the ever unbridled quest to make a difference, identify him as a perfect example of a dependable leader. … we adopted him as our GRAND LEADER to serve as a compass to others that God has given, and would give an opportunity to serve”, Ekperikpe said.
The Chairman of the occasion, Dr. Maurice Ebong, said that ADF was founded on the cannon of dependable leadership, and modelled after a dependable leader in the person of Senator Godswill Akpabio. He advised members of the group to always uphold the tenets and principles of dependable leadership as exemplified by the Grand leader.
The Chairman, Board of Trustees of ADF, Group Captain Sam Enwang (rtd) described the inauguration of the State Executive Committee of ADF as a platform that would launch Akwa Ibom State to a higher height.
He commended the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs for considering to team up with the group, and called for synergy with other splinter groups to give the State a dependable leader.
Other speakers eulogized the group for the vision of galvanizing massive support for effective and dependable leadership, and expressed optimism that come 2023 Akwa Ibom State would vote a dependable leader as governor of the State.
