Murder of Iniubong Umoren: Uruan disowns Uduak Frank Akpan as warns against fake employers
A socio-cultural organization, Uruan Supreme Youths Association, USYA, has disowned the killer of the deceased job seeker, Iniubong Umoren, insisting that the said Uduak Frank Akpan is not from Uruan.
A statement from its Uruan office, 2 Udo Obot Street, Ituk Mbang and signed by Micheal Joseph Okon (ACE), Chairman Board of Trustee USYA, entitled NOT IN OUR CHARACTER tasked police “to trace with historical facts the true blood line of the culprit”.
The statement read:
“While awaiting the official security statement from the police, it’s pertinent we assure the public that we condemn in it’s entirety the barbaric situation that has led to the gruesome murder of Iniubong Umoren by one Uduak Frank Akpan from Nung Ikot Obio as published by the Ibom Informer Newspaper online.
“It is not in our character as a responsible and hospitable sect to perpetuate such heinous act, what has happened has no link with our history as a people.
“To this end we implore the Police to trace with historical facts the true blood line of the culprit for residential history and murderous history if properly investigated might exonerate Uruan from this madness.
“For those already judging Uruan Nation by the foolishness and wickedness of one, we implore you to apply refrain for we are a loving, caring, hospitable and responsible people.
“We sympathize with the family of Iniubong Umoren for their lose and pray for justice to be served quickly, though not enough justice can bring her back to us.
“May her soul find rest in the bosom of the Lord and may our society be free from such demonic rampage.”
But a police update on the disappearance of Miss Iniubong Umoren has confirmed the incident and arrest of the perpetrator, warning unsuspecting members of the public against fake employers.
“The Akwa Ibom State Police Command has arrested one UDUAK FRANK AKPAN, 20 years old for kidnapping, raping and murdering one Miss Iniobong Umoren.
“On 30/04/2021, the Command received a report on the disappearance of the victim.
Following available leads, Men of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad of the Command, led by Csp CSP Inengiye IGOSI, consolidated on the initial great progress made by the DPO Uruan, SP Samuel Ezeugo and arrested the perpetrator who confessed to have lured his victim to his house in the guise of giving her a job, but ended up sexually and physically assaulting her which led to her death. To cover his tracks, he dragged and buried her in a shallow grave in his father’s compound.
The body of the deceased has been exhumed and deposited at UUTH for autopsy.
“The suspect confessed to have told his Local Government Chairman of his atrocity before escaping to Calabar and was never at anytime handed over to the Police by anyone.
“Suspect is a confessed serial rapist who has owned up to the raping of other victims. He will be charged to court at the conclusion of investigation.
“The Commissioner of Police, CP AMIENGHENE ANDREW, fdc, psc(+) has called on youths and job seekers to be wary of the activities of scammers and other men of the underworld.
“While appreciating the efforts of the social media family and other fighters of injustice, he has condoled with the family and friends of the deceased.”
