Moses Ekpo to Guber Aspirants: Learn from my story
The Deputy Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr Moses Ekpo has appealed to all governorship aspirants seeking nomination on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Akwa Ibom State to close ranks and work together for the good of the state.
The Deputy Governor made the remarks when the Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources, Pastor Umo Eno went on a consultation visit to him at Government House, Uyo.
Mr Moses Ekpo noted that God has always had a hand in choosing leaders in every society, citing his own case when throughout his career, God has always surprised him with appointments even with his having to be desperate.
He narrated his experience when he was first appointed as Commissioner For Information, Cross River State and his reluctance to accept that role over his responsibilities at the Federal Ministry of Information and how it took persuasion for him to come and take up the responsibility in the state.
“The state executive council could not be inaugurated for two weeks because I delayed accepting the appointment”.
He further recalled the events that led to his emergence as Deputy Governorship Candidate of the party, how he received a phone call from far away Washington DC to come and accept to run with His Excellency, Mr Udom Emmanuel, even when he had not lobbied for the position.
He attributed his entire political experience as a confirmation that God still controls the affairs of men especially in the leadership selection process.
The deputy Governor appealed to all aspirants seeking nomination on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to close ranks and work with Pastor Umo Eno who has received the blessings of the Governor to run for the Governorship.
He stressed that Pastor Umo Eno is a man he has known in the executive council and a very intelligent team player who has always delivered on his assignments.
“His background in business accounts for his work ethics and his ability to get things done quickly. I pray that God will bless you, protect you and give you the energy to keep running till you succeed”.
Mr Ekpo offered to be part of the campaign and assured of his physical presence to ensure that God’s vision for the state is realized.
The Governorship hopeful who spoke earlier had appealed for the blessings of the Deputy Governor, offering to be a servant leader who is ready to sustain on the gains being recorded in the state.
Describing the experience in emotional tones, Pastor Eno said he had a very humbling background of hardship but God used those harrowing experiences to shape him for the future, and promised that he would not let the state down.
Pastor Umo Eno was led on the visit by the Director General of campaign, Chief Assam Assam,SAN, National Chairman, Maintain Peace Movement, Barr Emmanuel Enoidem, Senator Akon Eyakenyi among others executive council members of the Maintain Peace Movement.
