Martha Udom Emmanuel: Governor’s wife fetes Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Women ahead of Christmas
Ahead of Christmas celebrations, the wife of the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Dr (Mrs) Martha Udom Emmanuel has donated food items and cash to Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Women Forum.
The Governor’s wife made the donation on tMonay, 29th November, 2021 in a carnival-like women rally at Essien Udim Local Government Council Secretariat, Afaha Ikot Ebak.
Dr Martha Udom Emmanuel, who shared the money personally to the women across the 10 local government areas of the Senatorial District, charged them to use the funds to buy their essential needs for the Christmas celebrations.
In her welcome address, the Executive Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Council, Mr Anthony Luke thanked the governor’s wife for her love, care and passion for Essien Udim women and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District in general.
A cross section of Ikot Ekpene Women
He assured the first lady of the people’s continuous support for the Completion Agenda of Governor Emmanuel’s administration and his succession plans.
His said: “Let me assure you that Essien Udim people and Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District has resolved to support Governor Udom to succeed in his Completion Agenda.
“We had a covenant with Governor Udom Emmanuel to support him for 8 years and also stand by him to produce a successor.
“Therefore, we shall support whoever the Governor will bring out as his successor in 2023.”
Also speaking, the member representing Essien Udim State Constituency, Barr Esse G. Umoh commended the governor’s wife for remembering home and also bringing succour to the women while also making cash donation to support the women.
The President, Ikot Ekpene Senatorial District Women Forum, Mrs Inibehe Silas described the event as “home coming” of the governor’s wife and promised to reciprocate the gesture by the governor’s wife by supporting Governor Emmanuel’s completion agenda and succession plans in 2023.
