Ikot Ekpene women gets new leader
Ikot Ekpene 47 Villages women Association under the auspices of Ikot Ekpene Women in Development has elected new leaders to pilot the affairs of the women for the next four years.
This followed a successful election last Friday held at the Martha Udom Emmanuel Development Center, Ikot Ekpene.
At the end of the election which was peaceful,Lady Dr. Margaret Samuel Ibok of Ibong Ikot Akan Village was elected President General while Elder (Mrs) Grace Okon Ekanem of Nsiak Village was elected and returned as Vice President. Mrs. Mfon Etim Ukpong of Ibiakpan Akananwan village emerged as Financial Secretary.
The Chairperson of the Electoral Board,Mrs. Christiana Okodi Okono while announcing the result of the election said bye election shall be conducted on a latter date to fill up vacant offices of the association.
Reacting, the outgoing President General, Obonganwan Dr. Regina Udomah, commended the women for their peaceful conduct during the election and expressed optimism that the association shall continue to grow in leaps and bounds. She called on Ikot Ekpene Women to support the new leadership to achieve more for the womenfolks.
In post election speech, Dr Margaret Samuel Ibok said she was poised to bring her wealth of experience and contact to bear in the discharge of her new responsibility to Ikot Ekpene Women. Dr.Ibok who is also a Special Assistant to the Governor assured the women of a better deal.
