IKOT EKPENE URBAN ASSEMBLY DISMISSES BRIBERY ALLEGATION AGAINST NTUFAM IYAK, TRANSITION CHAIRMAN
A group, Ikot Ekpene Urban Assembly has reacted to a recent publication on an online news platform, claiming that a political stakeholder in Ikot Ekpene, Ntufam Elijah Iyak, is leading a campaign against the directive of the Governor ahead of the forthcoming Local Government election.
The online publication states that Ntufam Iyak has during a meeting held in the local government area dared the Governor, vowing to go against the directive of the Governor with respect to the zoning of Chairmanship seat in the forthcoming Local Government election.
But Ikot Ekpene Urban Assembly has described the said publication as mischievous, defaming, and a calculated attempts by purveyors of fake news and their sponsors to cause a strain in the relationship between Ntufam Iyak and the Governor.
The Assembly in a statement endorsed by the Chairman,Hon Kingsley Ekong and Secretary Hon Wilfred Uwa maintained there was no such meeting, as the write up is a figment of the writer’s imagination.
The statement reads; “It is a sponsored blackmail by some desperate politicians from Amanyam Clan”.
“The performing Transition Chairman does not need to bribe anyone for endorsement, his performance speaks for him. Ntufam Udoiyak is not such a politician to be bought with money”.
“For the avoidance of doubt, Amanyam Clan is haunted by their greed and selfishness which led to the distortion of the zoning arrangement in Ikot Ekpene in 2012. They are hunted by the precedent they set in 2012”
The Assembly pointed out that Amanyam cannot take the House of Assembly, Commissioner and still expect to grasp the Chairmanship seat leaving Urban Clan with nothing, and therefore there’s a compelling need for mainstreaming in Ikot Ekpene if the PDP is to continue its winning streak at elections, the statement adds.
