Ikot Ekpene First Lady assured of commitment to protection of women’s rights
Wife of the Transition Committee Chairman of Ikot Ekpene Local Government Area, Mrs Utibe John Cleton, has echoed her resolve towards the protection of the rights of Women in the local government area.
Speaking, Wednesday in Ikot-Ekpene while during a familiarization meeting with ward Women leaders in the local government area, the Chairman’s Wife, stated that the local government administration in Ikot-Ekpene under her husband’s watch would always priorities issues of concern to the women, while ensuring even spread of democracy dividends to all strata of the society.
Mrs Etim who was accompanied to the meeting by her husband, Sir. John Cleton Etim, the Transition Committee Chairman of Ikot-Ekpene, appreciated the women for their support during the last election which saw the electoral victory of Pastor Umo Eno and other elected office holders in the area, also commended them for the goodwill and solidarity her husband has enjoyed so far since he was appointed as Transition Committee Chairman for the local government area, and solicited for their continuous cooperation and support, assuring of better days ahead.
In his remarks, the Transition Committee Chairman, Hon (Sir) John Cleton Etim, appreciated Governor Umo Eno for finding him worthy of piloting the affairs of the local government, describing his appointment as God’s grace.
He further applauded the women for their teaming support during and after the elections, and admonished them to always live together in love while urging them to see him as their son, as he also regards them as his mothers.
Hon. John Cleton, who officially introduced his wife to the women, appreciated them for accepting her into their fold.
Highlight of the meeting was encomiums and prayers from the women to the Council boss and his Wife.
