IKONO NEW CHAIRMAN TAKES OVER, ADOPTS GOV. ENO’S AGENDA
Following the recent inauguration of Transition Committees across the State by Pastor Umo Eno, Governor of Akwa Ibom State, the Chairman, Ikono Local Government Transition Committee, Wednesday, officially assumed duties as the Council’s helmsman.
The new Ikono Chairman is Hon. Kingsley Elijah Akpan and he is succeeding the immediate past Chairman, Hon. Nyakno Uwemedimo Okoibu whose tenure elapsed last week.
Addressing members of Ikono Transition Committee at Ibiaku Ntok Okpo, shortly after completing his official take over formalities at the Council headquarters, Hon. Kingsley Akpan, tasked them on working together as a team, stating his resolve to emulate the peace-building leadership disposition of Governor Eno in piloting the affairs of the area.
“We are not here to fight but to work collaboratively as a team for the progress and development of Ikono.
“As the leader of this team, I make bold to say that I’m here to further the peace and fence-mending leadership of His Excellency, Pastor Umo Eno, because that’s the easiest way to attract development to any area.
“We’re going to run a Transition Committee with a difference and I’m open to whatever good ideas, suggestions that will make for growth and development of Ikono.
“I’m not here to carry on as an emperor but as a team player. So, there’s need for us to work together in unifying our people and bringing the dividends of good governance back home for the benefit of the generality of the people.
“We’re here to further the peace and progress of Ikono by completely aligning with the ARISE Agenda of our beloved Governor, Pastor Umo Eno. We have to hit the ground running and make our people feel our impact”, Hon. Akpan posited.
Also speaking, the Vice Chairman, Ikono Transition Committee, Barr. John John who described the Chairman as a man of peace pledged to give the Chairman the support he needs to succeed and urged members of the committee to do same.
On his part, the Secretary of Ikono Local Government Transition Committee, Mr. Udeme Obot corroborated the Chairman’s commitment on the committee making a difference and urged his colleagues to join hands with the Chairman and work towards leaving remarkable footprints on the sands of time.
Other members of the Transition Committee in their separate remarks pledged their readiness to work in harmony with the Chairman to ensure maximum success.
They include: Iniobong Isaac Udofia – Ward 1, Obongemem Christopher Udo – Ward 2, Etido Ime John – Ward 3, Eld. Emmanuel Jackson Akpan – Ward 5, Nseowo Peter Iniodu – Ward 6, Nsemeke Mark Attang – Ward 7, Victor M. Udofia – Ward 8, Dorothy Rustom – Ward 9, Alfred A. Udo – Ward 10, Pst. Esther Uwem Akpabio – Ward 11 and Emma-Abasi Slyvester Sunday – Ward 12.
Meanwhile, shortly after a special session with members of Ikono Transition Committee, Hon. Akpan alongside his team members were led on a tour around the Council to ascertain the state of the facilities starting from the Council Secretariat to the Security Village by the Head of Service (HOS), Ikono Local Government Council, Mr. Uduak Udiong.
Earlier, Pastor Tunji Kupolati, Assistant Provincial Pastor, CSR, Akwa Ibom Province 10 who accompanied the new Ikono Chairman to office, offered special prayers on him, the team and the council, praying for an impactful tenure.
