Ibom Air: Akwa Ibom Govt expands fleet with 5th CRJ900 Aircraft:
In what may be considered a surprised, another aircraft belonging to Ibom Air arrives Murtala Mohammed international airport, Lagos few minutes ago.
The aircraft which arrived Lagos from Calgary, Canada with the registration number 5N-BXO is a Bombardier CRJ900, and 5th in the Ibom Air’s fleet.
It could be recalled that barely two months ago during the total lockdown due to the corona virus pandemic, the Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Mr. Udom Emmanuel had announced the arrival of the 4th aircraft, stating that another one would arrive within two to three months.
With the arrival of the expected 5th aircraft of Ibom Air, it is expected that more routes will be covered by this first State own airline.
According to the Management of the Airline, the key benefit of Ibom Air’s very modern fleet of Bombardier CRJ 900 aircraft is that they all come fitted with High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters. HEPA filters are high-intensity filters that do not just filter dust, but effectively capture greater than 99% of the airborne microbes in the filtered air, including microscopic particles such as bacteria and viruses.
Cabin air in HEPA equipped aircraft generally pass through the filters 20-30 times per hour, removing contaminants and greatly enhancing the quality of air in the cabin.
Many see the development as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s new month ?message to Akwa Ibom people and a farewell gift the out-gone Paul Ekpo-led PDP executives in the state.
