I will turn the fortunes of Cross River around – Senator Otu assures
The Cross River State guber candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Senator Bassey Otu says he will turn the fortunes of the State around if elected as the next governor in the 2023 governorship election.
Senator Otu gave the promise over the weekend at the Ernest Etim Bassey Press Center as he rounded up his thank-you tour across the 18 Local Government councils of the state.
His words, “CHAIRMAN, comrades, I have been going around the whole state, just to thank the delegates, thanking the traditional institutions who send their wards to stand behind me. Thanking our fathers and mothers for allowing their kid and kids to participate in the process. I am going around to inform you that I am the candidate for the governorship position of the state under the platform of the All Progressives Congress. We also informed them that we are ready to turn the fortune of the state around if we win the mandate in this election”
I have come to show myself to you all as partners in progress and by God willing, the incoming governor come May 29 2023.
“Let me also thank the entire journalists for your contributions over the years. I wish to state that this is not my first experience. I was in the House of Representatives, I was In the Senate. In the House of Reps, I was a House Committee Chairman, Petroleum Off Stream, in the Senate I was made House Committee chairman of Finance and also in Bank. If you check with me this is about the most sensitive legacy establishment of a government that we have. You will agree with me that you can not be given this kind of position if you are not tested and trusted. So I am coming here as a tested and trusted man. That is why I am seeking for every Cross Riverians support in 2023”
In his reaction, the state chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Comrade Nsa Gill, equally thanked the governorship candidate for finding time to identify with the journalists assuring him of the journalist’s unbiased reportage during the coming campaign and elections.
Maintaining that the ethics and disciplinary committee have been set to carry out their task.
The chairman said, “I want to assure you that journalists in Cross River State are well vate in their practice. We are not the group of practitioners that are taking sight. I want to assure you of unbiased reportage during campaigns and elections. We have selected our Ethics and Disciplinary committee to ensure that our members stay by the ethics of the union. The Press Centre is always open to all political parties and their aspirants” the chairman stressed.
