Guber 2023: Umo Eno already acquainted with A’Ibom developmental challenges- Udom’s Aide
The gubernatorial candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Akwa Ibom State, Pastor Umo Eno, is well acquainted with the rural developmental challenges in the state, Senior Special Assistant to Governor Udom Emmanuel on Petroleum Matters, Mr Victor Etefia, has stated.
Etefia, a former chairman of NUPENG task force on anti pipeline vandalism during the Goodluck Jonathan led administration, stated this when he appeared as guest on Peace Voice, a Maintain Peace Movement (MPM) sponsored programme on Inspiration 105.9 FM, in Uyo.
While fielding questions from host of the programme, Mr. Ekomobong Peter, the Governor’s aide noted that considering the timing, Pastor Eno was the best gift Governor Emmanuel had given to the people of the state.
“”If there is anything Governor Udom Emmanuel has offered us, it is Pastor Umo Eno. There are many other people but it is only that God has located this one for us at this material time. What we need in Akwa Ibom as at today is a governor that understands the rural crisis of the people.
“I say we are done with corporate governance. Now, we are looking for a man like Pastor Umo Eno. You won’t tell him the problem. He is very much acquainted with the problem. He has been around for over 25 years in this state as a businessman- someone who pays salary to over 1,000 people,” he said.
Etefia who is the “Champion” of Ikono Politics, said that the emergence of Pastor Umo Eno as governorship candidate of the PDP was divinely orchestrated as he may not have stood a chance if political sentiments were to be considered.
He siad “the moment he emerged, look at the natural reaction. People looked for him and even supported him.
While stressing the need for the unbundling of the NNPC, the Governor’s aide said that it is no longer profitable for government to solely invest in businesses.
He further mentioned that Governor Udom Emmanuel has brought in a lot of investors into the state, but regretted that archaic laws are some of the challenges facing them. He urge the State House of Assembly to work at repealing or reviewing such laws, as most of them were acts of Parliament.
