Guber 2023: I’ve capacity to transform Akwa Ibom – Pastor Umo Eno
A frontline PDP governorship hopeful in the 2023 race, Pastor Umo Eno has assured Akwa Ibom people that he has the capacity to transform the State, sustain and expand Governor Emmanuel’s industrialization stride.
Pastor Umo Eno mafe this known when he consulted the Akwa Ibom State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists at the Press Centre, Information drive, Uyo.
Eno who is a governroship aspirant and Commissioner for Lands and Water Resources said he will pay more attention to agricultural and tourism sectors of the state and use that to develop the state and create jobs for Akwa Ibom people and also ensure food sufficiency and availability for all.
He noted that Ibom Air which was established by Governor Udom Emmanuel will be utilized to drive tourism in the state if elected in 2023.
The aspirant said, Akwa Ibom is blessed with natural resources which are not yet explored but assured that his government will pay more attention to God’s gift resources to develop the state.
While restating his campaign theme which is to “further peace and prosperity in Akwa Ibom State”, Pastor Umo Eno reassured that he will complete all projects which may not be completed by Governor Udom Emmanuel’s administration for want of time.
He stated that he understands the intentions and interest of Governor Udom Emmanuel to industrialize and make peace reign in the state and promised to sustain his lofty programmes.
Pastor Umo Eno announced the institution of Development Journalism award in the Union to promote socio-economic and human capital development in the state.
Introducing the PDP Governorship hopeful, Pastor Umo Eno, the Director General of Umo Eno Campaign Team, Ambassador Assam Assam said he brought the aspirant to the Union to help in marketing his lofty ideas, vision and mission to Akwa Ibom people and also project his pedigree.
In his goodwill message, the National Chairman of Maintain Peace Movement (MPM), Barrister Emmanuel Enoidem said the visit was in recognition of the critical role NUJ plays in project Akwa Ibom as stakeholders.
He stated that the choice of Pastor Umo Eno as Governor Udom Emmanuel’s preferred candidate to succeed him at the end of his tenure in 2023 is a dream come true.
The former National Legal Adviser of PDP said MPM has been praying for a governor who will be able to perpetuate and maintain the existing peace in the state and that God has answered their prayers by the gift of Pastor Umo Eno.
Speaking, the political leader of Nsit Ubium, Senator Effiong Bob said he can vouch for the integrity, credibility, capacity and pedigree of Pastor Umo Eno to be able to govern Akwa Ibom and deliver dividends of democracy to the people.
He urged all his media supporters to transfer their support to Pastor Umo Eno assuring them that their interest will be protected.
On his part, the former Commissioner for Information and Strategy and member representing Abak Federal Constituency Elder Aniekan Umanah said power comes from God and he decides who leads his people at any point stressing that God has interest in the affairs of men. He syed for support for Pastor Eno.
Speaking on behalf of the State House of Assembly, the Deputy Speaker, Mrs Felicia Bassey reiterated the resolve of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly to support the aspiration of Pastor Umo Eno as the next Governor of Akwa Ibom State.
Also, the Dean, college of Commissioners Akwa Ibom State, Mrs Glory Edet who reaffirmed the earlier decision of the College to endorse Pastor Umo Eno stated that the aspirant is their own and therefore they cannot afford not to support him to succeed.
Responding, the State Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, Akwa Ibom State Council, Mr. Amos Etuk, promised to partner the aspirant for the development of Akwa Ibom State if elected into office in 2023.
He assured the aspirant that the Union will continue to uphold the ethics of professionalism by ensuring balance, fair and objective reportage as the Union will not indulge in sensational journalism.
Mr Etuk commended Pastor Umo Eno for instituting Development Journalism award and thanked him for his generousity to the Union.
