Governor Umo Eno condoles with Essien Udim Paramount Ruler over wife’s passing

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno has sympathized with the Paramount Ruler of Essien Udim, His Royal Majesty Obong Cosmas Akpan, Akwa Akuku Annang 1 over the demise of his wife, Obonganwan Elizabeth Cosmas Akpan (JP) at the age of 61.
The Governor who eulogised the departed Queen, described her as a rare gem and a compassionate woman who dedicated her life to service to humanity.
The Governor who was represented by the State Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Frank Archibong at the funeral Mass which took place at St Anthony Catholic Church, Ekpenyong Atai on Friday, 16th February 2024 asked God to comfort and strengthen the royal family particularly the deceased husband, HRM Obong Cosmas Akpan, Akwa Akuku Annang 1 and give him the fortitude to bear the irreplaceable loss of his dear wife.
In his remarks, the Chairman, Transition Committee, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Dr Anthony Luke commended the deceased children and inlaws for rallying around their mother when she was weak and incapacitated. While praying for the repose of the soul of departed Queen, the Council boss urged the family to live peacefully with one another and also take good care of their aged father, the Paramount Ruler of Essien Udim and Akwa Akuku Annang 1, HRM Obong Cosmas Akpan.
In his homily, the Parish Priest of St Anthony Catholic Parish, Ekpenyong, Very Rev Fr. (Barr) John Oscar Ebebe, Esq charged Christians to do good to all manners of people while they have opportunities as it is the only way to please God.
The biography of the deceased reveals that HRM Obonganwan Elizabeth Cosmas Akpan as a school teacher was a typical example of peace, a symbol of charity and a strong advocate of goodwill.
The remains of the Queen was interred at her husband’s compound in Ekpenyong Atai.
The funeral mass was also attended by the Member, representing Essien Udim State Constituency at the Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly, Hon. Prince Ukpong Udo Akpabio II; the Commissioner for Power, Akwa Ibom State, Engr Camillus Umoh; the Chairman, Transition Committee, Abak Local Government Area, Hon. (Apostle) Ekerete Inyang; former member Essien Udim State Constituency, AKHA, Rt Hon Nse Ntuen; Obong Nsini Umanah, wives of Paramount Rulers in Akwa Ibom State, Council of Chiefs, family members, relations and friends.
