Governor Otu flag-off 2023 Carnival Calabar to the glory of God.
The Governor of Cross River State, Prince Bassey Otu has declared open the 2023 Carnival Calabar with thousands of participants.
while flagging off the carnival, the governor described it as “the world’s biggest street party” .
The event began on 26th December while the main Carnival was billed up 28th December 2023 which kicked off from the 11/11 Millennium Part through Mary Slessor Avenue, Calabar, the state capital, and ended at J.U. Esuene International Stadium, Calabar.
In his words, the governor said, “This is part of my campaign promise, that we are going to bring back Cardinal, and this what we have done, I have seen our sponsors. I have said we are just going to work together to improve upon this Carnival and this is what we have done.
Carnival Calabar remains the biggest Carnival in the world today. If you look around you you will notice that everybody is ready to vibrate”
Governor Otu, therefore, declares the Carnival open to the Glory of God.
National and state government dignitaries including the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Dr. Betta Edu witness the event.
This year Carnival Calabar sponsors include the Zenith Bank PLC, United Bank for Africa, Sterling Bank PLC, and many others.
Participating bands include Bayside Band, The Seagull Band, Master Blaster Band, Marshall, Hit FM Band, as well as Governors Band.
Carnival Calabar is the Biggest street arty in Africa as described by many.
