Gov Eno Means We’ll for No -Indigenes in Akwa Ibom – Mr. Emmanuel Ogbole
Non-indigenes in Akwa Ibom State have been tasked to cooperate with the Akwa Ibom State government to ensure a continuum of the peace, prosperity and harmonious coexistence there are enjoying in the state.
The charge was made by the Senior Special Assistant to the Governor on Non-Indigenes Affairs, Mr. Emmanuel Ogbole when he received a delegation of the executive and stakeholders of the Yoruba Community in Akwa Ibom State, Uyo Chapter.
Mr. Emmanuel Ogbole who is also the Chairman of the Arewa Community in Akwa Ibom State intimated the association about the lofty initiatives that the Governor has facilitated to ensure that no group in the non-indigenes community is sidelined in the social intervention programmes of government.
Citing different projects like the Arise Initiative for the elderly, the Arise Compassionate Homes, the food subsidy, distribution of foodstuffs and palliatives, Ak-Cares, he stated emphatically that the Government of Akwa Ibom State through Pastor Umo Eno has demonstrated that the interest of those domiciled in the State, both indigenes and non-indigenes remains the first line of charge and is of topmost priority.
” We are most fortunate to have a leader like Pastor Umo Eno as the one at the helm of affairs of the State at this point in time. His government is all- inclusive and non-discriminatory. I see him as a nationalist and if every other governor or leader was like the person we have as the Executive Governor of Akwa Ibom State I do not think we will have any reason for agitation. This is because governance is about the people and like he says, wherever you find yourself is like a revolving door, the door that takes you in will be the same door that will take you out. So do the best you can when you have the opportunity. This what he has been doing thus far.
“I can tell you boldly as the S.S.A on Non-Indigenes Affairs to the Governor that he has the interest of the non-indigenes at heart. Infact he is working the talk and fulfilling his campaign promise that the welfare of all including the non-indigenes will be his primary concern when he resumes office. The Governor has an idea of the different non-indigenes groups resident in the State and is interested in ensuring that everyone is comfortable and at ease.
“I ask all of us to be supportive of this government even as I also on behalf of the Governor appreciate you for your support, votes during elections, and peaceful disposition so far. I pray you continue in that light and also assure you that apart from all these he has done to carry us along and give us a sense of belonging that he will in no distant time come to thank us again.
” Be rest assured that he is doing everything both known and unknown to ensure that we have a good life. He came for the rural poor and is very aggressive about it because that is what the government is all about” he said.
The executives who stated that the meeting was a familiarisation visit, thanked the Governor for all he has done so far for the non-indigenes groups in the State. They also called on the S.S.A to continue in propagating ideals that will promote the unity amongst non-indigenes groups resident in the State.
The visit had in attendance the Uyo Senatorial District President of the group, Prince Adekunle Adefisan; the Chairman, Uyo Senatorial District Elders Forum, Pa Julius Oledipupo; A Patron, Alhaji Moruf Sanni; the Secretary of Yoruba Consultative Council, Rev Adesakin; the woman leader of the group and representatives from the women and youth wing of the group.
