Federal Polytechnic Ukana trains staff on ICT
The Federal Polytechnic Ukana has commenced training on Information and Communications Technology (ICT) with a charge on staff to give the exercise the attention and importance it deserves.
The Rector of the institution, Dr. Uduak Ukekpe gave the advice while declaring open the training at the Polytechnic Annex Campus aimed at empowering all the academic and non teaching staff of the Polytechnic for greater productivity.
The training which is scheduled to be a Five- day Programme is mounted by the ICT gaint ,Tenece Professional Service Limited and is solely sponsored by Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund).
The Rector of the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana Dr. Uduak S. Ukekpe while commending TETfund support and commitment in ensuring quality education in the country through capacity building , observed that Federal Polytechnic, Ukana is one of the beneficiaries of the Federal Government programme through TETfund.
The boss of the Polytechnic said “I am privilege to have benefited immensely from TETfund since my inception as the Rector of the Polytechnic. We have erected and completed buildings at the main campus with 80% all the completed project courtesy of TETfund intervention including this ICT programme.
Ukekpe, posited that the programme which has drawn participant from the teaching and non teaching staff of the Polytechnic, is geared towards keeping them abreast with the modern technology in teaching and learning as well as acquaint them with the new technology and growing trend to integrate ICT into education .
He stressed that the training is an opportunity for Staff to gain in depth knowledge in ICT .
He urged every participant to take the training seriously as a mock examination will be administered at the end of the training with an International ICT Graduate Certificate issued . He laid emphasis on zero tolerance to absentism and nonchalancy toward the training.
Mrs Oluwafunto Julius , the TETfund representative , while speaking on behalf of TETfund noted that the training is an internationally recognized one and that acquiring the certificate after the training is an added advantage to staff of the Polytechnic.
Mr Elizera Ahja, representing the team leader of the ICT gaint ,Tenece , announced that the training will be grouped into two ,while one group will be occupied by those on the Base level , the other will be for those on the Intermediate level.
The Registrar of the Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Dr John Ekanem while giving his vote of thanks , applauded TETfund for their sponsorship .
He lauded the Rector for his leadership prowess and his ability in accessing TETfund interventions.He described the Rector as a God’s sent to the Polytechnic.
Also in attendance is the Deputy Rector, Mr.E. Etuk, , the Acting Head of works ,Engr Imo Okoji and the Polytechnic Bursar, Mr Mark Binwal
