Federal Polytechnic Ukana: Rector condoles Ika people over death of Monarch
The Rector Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe has commiserated with the people of IKA Local Government Area on the demise of their former Paramount Ruler, His Royal Majesty,Late Obong Stephen Isonguyo describing the late monarch as a patriotic, detribalized and compassionate leader who had always wanted the best for his people .
Dr. Ukekpe stated this, during a condolence visit to the family of the late monarch at his palace at Nto Ukara, IKA Local Government Area.
According to Dr. Ukekpe,” With the demise of our great monarch, IKA Local Government Area and indeed Akwa Ibom State has once again lost one of her patriotic citizens. The late monarch was peace loving,humane and very passionate about the welfare and well-being of his people ” the Rector stressed. He tasked the family and IKA people to take consolation in the fact that the monarch left behind a legacy of service to his people and Akwa Ibom State.Ukekpe prayed God to grant the soul of the departed monarch solace and the family and Ika people the fortitude to bear the lost.
Responding, the son of the late Paramount Ruler, Prince Idorenyin Isonguyo thanked Dr. Ukekpe for the visit. He said the Rector’s visit was timely and a demonstration of his love and regard for the late Paramount Ruler, stressing that the family is consoled by the visit.
In a vote of thanks, a community leader, Elder Augustine Okon Uwoh applauded Dr. Ukekpe for his thoughtful gesture describing him as a well meaning and deserving IKA son with deep respect for the traditional institution. Elder Uwoh used the opportunity to formally invite the Rector and other Akwa Ibomites to the funeral service in honour of the late Paramount Ruler on Friday, 30th July, 2021 at the deceased palace.
