Federal Polytechnic Ukana inaugurates Sport Advisory Committee
Poised to make good his promise of making sports an integral part of the institution, the Rector, Federal Polytechnic Ukana, Dr. Uduak S.Ukekpe has inaugurated sport advisory committee to oversee the sporting activities in the Institution as preparations to feature in the next NIPOGA games remains immenent.
Dr.Ukekpe , performed the inauguration last week at the Rector’s conference Hall, Annex Campus
Dr Ukekpe charged the committee to be diligent and dedicated in the discharge of their duties.
The Polytechnic boss, expressed optimism that the committee made of people of flawless character,sporting spirit and professional expertise will serve the Polytechnic better in area of ensuring that sporting activities are rejuvenated in the Polytechnic with the view to becoming a force to be reckoned with in terms of sports.
In the words of the Rector, ” sports play a vital role in education. It helps build the students physically and mentally and at the same time take them off crime and criminality. In as much as we are working hard to produce academic icons,we are also bracing up to produce sports icons for Nigeria “,he maintained.
Responding, the Chairman of the Committee, Mr Patrick Nwagwu, thanked the Management for entrusting such a great task on their shoulders and pleged their readiness and zeal to work for the progress of the Federal Polytechnic Ukana. He added that the Committee will do everything in their power to deliver the best to the Polytechnic.
In a vote of thanks, the Registrar of the Polytechnic , Dr. Okon J. Ekanem thanked the Rector for his attempt to broaden sports in federal Polytechnic Ukana , he also narrated his story as a sport man to encourage the committee to do their best , he further thanked the committee for accepting the call to service and wished them success in their service.
The committee has Mr Patrick as the Chairman, Mr.Imo Edet , Miss Ibifuro Braide,Mr.Evarest Keke,Mr.Ubong Tobby, Mr. Ndifreke Moffat as members while Tamunosiki Daka will serve as Secretary.
