Federal Polytechnic Ukana dedicates Main Campus with Solemn Assembly
Federal Polytechnic Ukana has held it’s first Solemn Assembly for the 2021/2022 academic session to formally dedicated the institution’s Main Campus to God and all activities to be carried out therein.
The event which took place at the institution’s 250 Capacity Lecture Theatre Hall at the Main Campis of the Polytechnic, exuded a spiritualy charged atmosphere as staff, students and distinguished guest took active part in the praise, worship and prayer session.
In his opening remarks, the Rector Federal Polytechnic, Ukana, Dr. Uduak Sunday Ukekpe, said the religious event was to formally hand over the affairs of the Institution to God for His guidance and direction and to dedicate all activities to Him.
Dr Ukekpe said by this exercise, the Polytechnic will have made God the chief cornerstone of the institution which will yield greater exploits in the new year. According to him, “there is great need to make God our anchor as we begin the activities of the year”.
He stressed the need to thank God for those who have been supportive to the progress of the institution and prayed that God should continue to protect and bless them. And to those that have been fighting the growth of the polytechnic, he sees their criticism as strength.
” one of the reasons for this religious converge is to thank God for those who have been antagonising the polytechnic, we need to thank God for thwarting their evil plots and also making the Polytechnic gain more strengths through their criticism” he said.
” the stage we are now is far from when we want to be, we have gathered to ask God to continue to be with us until we get to where we want to be, hence this solemn assembly is organized”.he added.
He reiterate that his utmost intention is to grow the polytechnic to a level where it will be recognized as one of the best three institutions in the country.
While delivering the homily, Rev. Emmanuel Ekere of African Church, admonished the Polytechnic congregation on the topic ” Stand Firm and Hold on”, taking his text from the book of Exodus 14:13. He said, “when you refuse to change your mind on a particular thing irrespective of the persecution, that means you are standing firm “. When you have God to back you up and direct your ways, you are indeed standing firm”. He added.
He charged the institution to stand firm in God at all times as it is the sure way of attracting His unending blessings.
Goodwill messages were offered by the Former Local Government Chairman of Essien Udim Local GovernmentArea, Rt Hon. Nse Ntuen, Clan Head of Ukana West who was represented by Village Head of Ukana Ikot Ntuen, Chief Michael Akpabio, Member of the Federal Polytechnic, Ukana Governing Council, Barr. Ibanga Akpabio, who explored the medium to appeal to politicians to use their good offices to foster development of the institution.
In a vote of thanks, The Registrar of the Polytechnic, Dr Okon J Ekanem, extol the the Rector for his God fearing attitude which has informed this Solemn Assembly. He expressed his gratitude towards the huge turn up by distinguished guest who despite their busy schedule graces the occasion with their presence. He commended the unity among management, staff and student which is evident in the level of attendance.
The high point of the event was dedication of the Main Campus and the intercessory prayers for the Government, Governing council, Management, Staff and Students of the polytechnic as well as the host communities.
Also in attendance were the Registrar Federal Polytechnic, Ukana Dr. Okon J Ekanem, Deputy Rector, Mr Elijah E. Etuk Polytechnic Librarian , Dr. Mercy Ebong, Bursar Mr Mark Titus Binwal amongst others.
