Essien Udim council chairman reiterates commitment on youth empowerment, education
The chairman, Essien Udim Government Council, Mr Anthony Luke has assured youths of the area of his administration’s commitment to youths empowerments and education.
The Chairman stated this during the extra-ordinary meeting of Essien Udim Youths for Greater Tomorrow held at the council hall, Afaha Ikot Ebak recently.
While acknowledging the organisation’s overwhelming support and contributions toward his victory at the poll during the last local government elections, Council Chairman promised to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that the youths are carried along in his administration.
The Council boss solicited the continuous support and cooperation of the youths for his administration to succeed in delivering dividends of democracy to the people and charged them to shun cultism, hooliganism and social vices as no development can take place in an atmosphere of violence.
He reiterated his determination to leave lasting legacies at the end of his tenure, noting that he has already started the process of transformation by procuring six vehicles for the council’s official’s use and also ensuring that the security operatives in the area are well taken care of by providing two motorcycles and a borehole to police and a generating set for the Nigerian Army at the boundary.
“We have also ensured that we give the police the necessary logistics to be able to fight crime and also protect lives and property of our people.
“When I was a Supervisor for Works in the Council, supervised the building of the Unity Hall and Council secretariat, so, I am determined to ensure that I also leave a lasting legacy in the Council by touching the lives of my people.
In his remarks, the National Coordinator, Essien Udim Youths for Greater Tomorrow, Comrade Peter Udoakah, thanked the Council Chairman, Mr Anthony Luke for his youth-friendly disposition and for also running an all-inclusive administration.
Udoakah lauded the Chairman’s pragmatic and proactive leadership in tackling the recent security challenges in the area.
He also commended the State governor, Mr Udom Emmanuel for his commitment to security of lives and property of the people of the state and Essien Udim in particular
The Coordinator pledged the unalloyed support of the youths to the administration of Mr Anthony Luke and to partner the chairman to prepare a brighter future for the youths.
