“I’m committed to the development of Essien Udim despite challenges” – ALUKO
The Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Council, Mr Anthony Luke (ALUKO) has reiterated his administration’s commitment towards delivering dividends of democracy to the people despite the recent security challenges in the area.
The Council boss who stated this while hosting the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Essien Udim Chapter recently thanked the party for finding him fit to fly the party’s flag during the last local government elections and also supporting him to emerge as the council Chairman.
While maintaining that his administration is poised to deliver on the people’s mandate and the party manifestos, he added that he has no excuse not to deliver.
Luke noted that he is working hard to ensure the security of live and property of the people stressing that no sustainable development can take place in an atmosphere of crisis. He called for the People’s cooperation to win the war against insecurity in the area.
“I’m committed to the development of Essien Udim despite the challenges we currently face. We will surmount them all. I’m not the type of Chairman that gives excuses. We will do our best to develop Essien Udim,” the Chairman reassured.
The council helmsman vowed to leave Essien Udim Local Government Council better than he met it, noting that he has started well with the procurement of 6 official vehicles for the council, two motorcycles and borehole to the divisional police station and numerous other achievements before the crisis erupted in the area.
He reassured the people of his commitment to redeem Essien Udim and make her work for all.
On security, the council chairman restated his administration’s zero tolerance stance on cultism and criminalities in the area also warned those involved in the act to desist and engage their energy on useful ventures.
In his remarks, the Chapter Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Essien Udim, Hon Cyril Peter Udoh who commended their host, Mr Anthony Luke for recognizing the party and also carrying them along in his administration stressed that the gesture is uncommon and laudable.
Udoh pledged the party’s unalloyed support to Chairman’s administration to succeed, saying that the party will continue to remain a partner in the Essien Udim project.
The Chapter Chairman urged Councillors elected on the platform of the party to emulate the Council Chairman and work with the party structure at the various wards if they must remain relevant in the polity.
In his good will message, the Chapter Organising Secretary of the party, Mr Augustine Mendie lauded the Chairman’s gallantry in the fight against insecurity that engulfed the area recently.
He enjoined the chairman not to listen to naysayers but continue to trust in God to lead him to deliver on his mandate to the people.
