Essien Udim council boss reiterates commitment to grassroots education, flags off distribution of free educational materials
In furtherance of his commitment to grassroots education, the Chairman of Essien Udim Local Government Council, Mr Anthony Luke has flagged off the distribution of free educational materials to schools in the area.
The Council Chairman, who received some exercise books and other educational materials donated by the Supervisor for Education, Essien Udim, Mr Itoro Akpan ordered immediate distribution to schools in the area.
The council boss who commended the supervisor for the initiative and contributions to quality education in the area charged other appointees of government to emulate the Supervisor for Education for making useful contributions to grassroots development.
He said his administration is poised to ensure education of his people, noting that education is the bedrock for community development.
According to the council helmsman, his administration will continue to initiate life- touching programmes and policies that will impact positively on the people’s lives despite miriades challenges.
He lamented the recent security breaches in the area which, according to him, have brought some setbacks to the administration but commended Governor Udom Emmanuel for his prompt intervention to arrest the crisis and restore normalcy to the area.
While presenting the materials, the Supervisor for Education, Mr Itoro Akpan, described the Chairman as a lover of education, stressing that the gesture was in support of his administration’s passion for education and in support of Governor Udom Emmanuel’s free education policy in the state.
The supervisor who promised to ensure that the materials reach all the schools in the area pledged his unalloyed support to the chairman’s education programmes.
He lauded the Chairman for paying attention to the education of Essien Udim children sued for support for the Anthony Luke’s administration to succeed for the benefit of the people.
The presentation was witnessed by the Vice Chairman of Council, Hon. (Mrs) Emem Ekarika; the Leader of Essien Udim Legislative Council, Hon. (Mrs) Mary R. Charles and all the councilors; the Secretary of Council, Mr. Nyom Ataha; supervisors and other administrative staff of the council.
