Essien Udim council boss presents official cars to 3 principal officers
The Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Area, Mr Anthony Luke, has presented three new official cars to three principal officers of the council, including the Leader of the Legislature, the Head of Service and the Head of Finance.
While making the presentation on Monday, 1st February, 2021 at the Council Secretariat, the Chairman said the vehicles were provided to help them function effectively in their official assignment towards moving the council forward.
According to the council helmsman, the presentation was necessitated by absence of “serviceable official vehicles” for council officials, including council Chairman.
“Can you imagine that before now there was not even a single serviceable official vehicle left for Council officials. Not even one utility vehicle was left.
“It is not fair for the Leader of the Legislature or the Head of Service to come to work on commercial motorcycle,” Luke observed.
The Council boss described as unacceptable a situation where people entrusted with the common patrimony of the people abused such trust at the detriment of the people.
He expressed optimism that the vehicles will help the council officers step up their performances at their duty post.
According to the Chairman, pausity of fund cannot stop him from delivering on his campaign promises and his determination to transform the Council and make life better for the people.
Luke asserted that his mission in Essien Udim is not to amass wealth for himself but to transform the area for the benefit of all and restated his commitment to leave Essien Udim better than he met it.
He stated that the mandate Essien Udim people gave him is so dear to his heart, promising to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring the security of lives and property so that the people can go about their legitimate businesses without any fear of intimidation, kidnapping and robbery.
Mr Anthony Luke posited that he will not relent in his oars to deliver dividends of democracy to the grassroots people and also bring government closer to people by making them feel the impact of governance.
Responding, the Leader of Essien Udim Legislative Council, Hon (Mrs) Mary R. CHarles expressed gratitude for the Chairman’s magnanimity and stated that the vehicle will enhance the discharge of her duties for the benefit of Essien Udim people.
He assured the Chairman of a roburst and rancour-free legislative and executive relationship to make Essien Udim great again.
The Head of Service, Sir Saturday Isonguyo, thanked the Chairman for his patriotism and determination to transform the Council as he pledged the unalloyed support of all the staff of the council to the Chairman to realise his lofty dreams for the people.
Isonguyo who described the car presentation as uncommon milestone in the history of Essien Udim stressed that the council has taken a different shape since the inauguration of Mr Anthony Luke as the Executive Chairman of Essien Udim.
Recalled that the Chairman had just within six days in office presented a car gift to Okon PDP Ward Chairman and a mini-water project to Adiasim Community.
To boost the morale of the police officers in the area in combating crime, the Chairman also donated two motorcycles, modern toilet and water facilities to Essien Udim Police Division and another mini water project to Adiasim people in less than a month in office.
He has also promised to reactivate the abandoned water and toilet facilities at Urua Akpan and Obo Annang while promising to establish a motor park at Obo Annang to reduce traffic at the market.
