Few weeks after hoodlums invaded De Choice Uyo Mall and looted many items, the centre has been reopened for business.
Recall that De Choice is one of the private business centres in Uyo invaded by hoodlums who hijacked the #EndSARS protest and embarked on looting spree within the metropolis and other parts of the country.
A statement from De Choice official Facebook page reads: “Dear Esteemed Customer, Thank you for your continuous patronage and support. Please be informed that your De Choice Mall (Fastfood & Supermarket) is back and better!! We are opened to serve you as always. Do come in and take advantage of all our exciting deals, promos and offers.”
Morenews.ng correspondent who visited the mall rrported that the fast food and zuper market session was bubbling with business as customers were seen everywhere shopping as usual.
Some customers who spoke with our correspondent expressed delight to return to De Choice for shopping. They frowned at the activities of the hoodlums who invaded the mall and cart away their items.
“Such actions by the hoodlums is condemnable. There is no justification what so ever for such actions. I don’t call them hoodlums but thieves, robbers…”
Some of the customers called on government to give assishtance to some of the private business centres touch during the unfortunate event.
Efforts to speak with the management of DE Choice to ascertain the level of damage done at the mall was not successful as the manager did not pick his call or reply to sms send to him.
Other places attacked in Uyo were Akwa Ibom Broadcasting Coorperation Marketting office at Udo Udoma street, Dominos Pizza, Kilimanjaroo eateries, Mbetello Boutique, Anchor Insurance building, Access, Zenith banks building amongst others.
Meanwhile, the Judicial Panel of enquiry investigating incidnces of SARS brutality and actions of the hoodlums who infiltrated the EndSARS peaceful protest in Akwa Ibom is yet to conclude their findings to know if government will pay compensation to the business owners whose businesses were invaded.
