Encomiums as Governor Emmanuel inaugurates 24 Inter-Ministerial Projects in Essien Udim
As part of activities to mark his six years in office, the Akwa Ibom State Governor, Mr. Udom Emmanuel has inaugurated 24 Inter-Ministerial Projects in Essien Udim Local Government Area as the people asked for more.

Inaugurating the project in a colourful ceremony, Governor Emmanuel urged the people to take ownership of the facilities and protect them from vandalism while assuring that his administration will implement more projects in Essien Udim.


He noted that the Inter-ministerial projects were part of his campaign promises to the people of Essien Udim for their overwhelming support during his second term elections and his completion agenda and solicited more collaboration.
Governor Emmanuel who was represented at the occasion by the Commissioner for Trade and Investment, Barr Prince Ukpong U. Akpabio charged Essien Udim people to embrace peace and join hands with the Local Government Council Chairman to develop the area, adding that no meaningful development can take place in atmosphere of crisis.
In his address of welcome, the Chairman, Essien Udim Local Government Council, Mr Anthony Luke commended Governor Emmanuel for his infrastructural development in the area and assured that the people will protect the facilities and also make good use of them.
The Council boss expressed gratitude to the governor for his timely intervention to restore peace and norlmacy during the recent security breaches in the area, stressing that the situation would have been worst without the governor’s prompt intervention and support.
He pledged the unalloyed support of Essien Udim people to the success of his administration’s completion agenda.
In his remarks, the member Representing Essien Udim State Constituency, Hon (Barr) Esse G. Umoh who thanked Governor Emmanuel for his love for Essien Udim people said “without the governor Essien Udim people would have not had a representative in the State House of Assembly”. He also lauded the Governor for declaring state of emergency in education sector in the state stressing that “education is the bedrock of development in any society” while thanking the Governor for revamping some dilapidated structures in some schools in the area to make for conducive learning atmosphere.
The Essien Udim House Member also expressed gratitude to the Inter-ministerial Direct Labour Committee for supervising two of his constituency Projects at St Thomas Catholic School, Ikpe Annang
He reminded the governor of some of his unfulfilled promises to the people and pleaded with him to construct the two roads he promised them since his first term which are Urua Afa Okon – Urua Akpan Road and Ikpe – Obo Annang Road.
The Essien Udim MP assured the governor of the support of Essien Udim people towards the success of his administration and beyond, saying, “where the governor goes, there shall we go and who the governor will support as his successor, the same person Essien Udim people shall support in 2023”
In his good will message, the Itai Afe Annang and Clan Head of Ikpe Annang, His Highness Okuku Effiong P. Esideh who gave the governor royal blessing for restoring peace and sanity to Essien Udim urged the governor to do more for the people.
The Royal father who was represented by one of his council members, Chief Etim Akpan noted that the people of Essien Udim had sacrificed so much for the governor and also deserve so much from his administration’s completion agenda.
Speaking on behalf of the Women of Essien Udim, Obonganwan Mfon Udoima thanked the governor for the projects in Essien Udim and reminded him of his promises to Essien Udim women while pledging the continuous support of the women to his administration’s completion agenda
The Chairman, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Essien Udim Chapter, Hon Cyril P. Udoh who commended the governor for making the party proud also assured him of the party’s support to his administration.
The commissioning ceremony which took place at St Thomas Catholic Primary School, Ikpe Annang was graced by avalanche of political stakeholders in Essien Udim which include amongst others the Political Leader of Essien Udim, Obong Akparawa Michael Afangideh, the Political leader of Afaha Ward, RT Hon. Suyienkekere Inokon, the Vice Chairman of Council, Noble Lady Emem Ekarika, Leader, Essien Udim Legislative Council, Hon (Mrs) Rosemary R. Charles, Secretary of Council, Mr Nyom Ataha and Councillors.
The Visitors were treated to the rich cultural heritage of Annang land including Ekpo Cultural Group and others.
