EAST WEST ROAD: Aniekan Akpan lauds Senator Akpabio
Calls for release of funds to Eket Council Boss
The Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Distinguished Senator Godswill Akpabio has been commended for the ongoing works on the East West Road.
Chief Aniekan Akpan, former chairman of Eket local government area made the commendation while speaking with newsmen during a private inspection of Eket Section of the East West Road.
He expressed delight for the quality of work done by the contractors, especially those handling the Eket section of the road.
“The ongoing work along Eket Oron Road is unprecedented. It further confirmed the passion the Honourable Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio whose ministry supervised the road, has for Eket, Akwa Ibom State and Niger Delta.”
Akpan, recalled that Sen. Godswill Akpabio’s predecessors in the Niger Delta Affairs Ministry abandoned the road not because of paucity of funds but lack of love for the people of Niger Delta region of the country despite the huge contributions to the economy of the country from the region.
“From enquiries, compensations for owners of farmlands, cash crops and economic trees along the diverted axis of the Eket section of the East West road has been paid by the federal government through the Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs.”
Chief Akpan, called for support and prayers for Senator Godswill Akpabio, saying with total support and encouragement, East West road would be completed and commissioned as scheduled.
“Senator Godswill Akpabio left great legacies and infrastructures in Akwa Ibom State during his tenure as the governor. I am optimistic that the East West Road would be completed by him”, Chief Aniekan Akpan, a chieftain of All Progressives Congress (APC),said.
Similarly, Chief Aniekan Akpan, recently appointed, SA Strategy and Akwa Ibom State Matters to Barr. Effiong Akwa, Sole Administrator of Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), lauded the Executive Chairman of Eket local government, Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott for embarking on remedial works on some roads abandoned by the state government in Eket.
“Hon. Akaniyene Tommey Ikott has started on a good note. The face-lifts he has given to roads in Eket is a sign of good things to come if he remained focus.”
He, however, called on Governor. Udom Emmanuel to release all the statutory allocations of Eket Local Government to Hon. Akaniyene Tommey for the development of the area.
