Akwapoly Governing Council suspends Registrar over gross misconduct

In its avowed determination to fight corruption, sanitise the institution and maintain the highest educational standard, the Governing Council of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Akwapoly, Ikot Osurua on Tuesday suspended the Registrar of the institution, Dr (Mrs.) Mary Ndah over alleged gross misconduct.
In a statement signed by the Polytechnic’s Deputy Registrar, Public Relations, Ms. Gloria Udoudom, the Registrar’s suspension followed the report of the Committee on the Review of the Issuance of Statement of Results/Certificates for supposed Graduands of the Defunct Distance Learning Centres of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua from 2009-2013, where a prima facie case of serious misconduct was established against the Registrar/Secretary of Council, Dr (Mrs) Mary S. Ndah.
The statement read in parts, “…It is considered necessary in the public interest that she be prohibited from carrying on her duties and enjoying the salaries thereof forthwith, pending the outcome of the Investigation Committee that has been set up by the Governing Council”.
According to Ms. Udoudom, the decision to suspend the Registrar was approved by the Polytechnic’s Governing Council in its 10th Regular meeting of 7th December, 2021.
Similarly, the Governing Council has approved Mr Ini Dominic Ebong, who is the next most Senior Deputy Registrar of the Polytechnic to oversee the duties of the Registrar/Secretary to Council till further notice.

“”Suspension of the Registrar of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua, Dr (Mrs) Mary S. Ndah from office with immediate effect
“”Following the report of the Committee on the Review of the Issuance of Statement of Results/Certificates for supposed Graduands of the Defunct Distance Learning Centres of Akwa Ibom State Polytechnic, Ikot Osurua from 2009-2003, a prima facie case of serious misconduct has been stated against the Registrar/Secretary of Council, Dr (Mrs) Mary S. Ndah and it is considered necessary in the public interest that she be prohibited from carrying on her duties and enjoying the salaries thereof forthwith, pending the outcome of the Investigation Committee that has been set up by the Governing Council.
Consequently, the Governing Council in its 10th Regular meeting of 7th December 2021 approved the suspension of Dr. (Mrs) Mary S. Ndah from office forthwith and during her absence, Mr Ini Dominic Ebong, the next most Senior Deputy Registrar, shall oversee the duties of the Registrar/Secretary to Council.”
